An Athens woman was arrested last week after she reportedly left the scene of an accident.
Cynthia Larue Hubbard, 50, of 366 Arch Street, was charged with DUI, following too closely and leaving the scene of an accident.
According to the incident report, deputy Douglas Martin noticed a black SUV and a red compact car with front end damage sitting in the right hand turn lane of the southbound lane of Hwy. 29. When he turned around and came back to the scene, the red car was gone. The driver of the SUV said the care had left the scene without exchanging any information. Martin found the vehicle, driven by Hubbard, traveling on Old Danielsville Road and made a traffic stop. The deputy noted that Hubbard had a strong odor of alcohol and her speech was slurred. She was placed under arrest and taken to the Madison County Jail.
