The annual Christmas parade in Comer will be held Saturday Dec. 6, at 2 p.m.
The theme this year will be “Peace on Earth.” The day will start with a fun run (see Page 2B for details) followed by the Comer Fire Department chicken barbecue. The music will begin at 1 p.m. at the grandstand with Tommy Hall. The Comer Chorus and Madison County High School Chorus.
Long-time county Probate Judge, Donald “Hoppy” Royston, who is retiring at the end of this year, will serve as the parade’s grand marshal.
“As we always plan for, Santa will arrive at the parade so come with your family and enjoy the day,” organizers said. “Please come enjoy the season with us.”
Comer Elementary School will have its annual Christmas Festival Saturday from 3–5 p.m. There will be games for all ages, a cakewalk, bingo and pictures with Santa Claus.
On Sunday evening, the churches will host the lighting of the town Christmas tree at 7:30 p.m. There will be refreshments and chorus singing.
