Things are bad, and likely to get worse.
That was the general theme heard by Madison County Chamber of Commerce members last week as they gathered for the annual “Eggs and Issues” meeting at the Ila Restaurant. State Representatives Tom McCall and Alan Powell were on hand to brief those present on some of the things facing the state legislature in 2009. Senator Ralph Hudgens was also scheduled to speak, but was unable to attend.

Looks like time to abandon the Governor if he follows through with abolishing the homestead exemption. Who is going to feed the state? Maybe it is time to block vote the rural areas of the state like the metro areas do now! More taxes on middle income Georgians....oh yea more change I can believe in.

So, everyone who was so opposed to Glen Richardson's attempt to get the GREAT plan passed last year and eliminate ad valorem (property taxes) entirely and replace them with a sales (fair) tax is singing a different tune now! Sonny planned on eliminating the homestead exemption all along. Hate to say it...WE TRIED TO TELL YOU! All because you wanted some fantasy you call "local control." Sonny is laughing at all of you now, just like he's been laughing at all those hicks who defeated Roy Barnes because Sonny was going to bring back the old state flag...now you don't have the flag (he never intended to do that) and you also DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY! Fools.

I looked at the picture and we have two representatives and one chairman. One representative looks and acts like he really gives a "hoot" and the other one looks like he really doesn't want to be there (the phone, the way he is sitting) and Anthony Dove is probably thinking "oh, boy, what in the world did I get myself into?". At least, the new chairman is participating in events within the county maybe that is a good sign.
