Ms. Temple, you are so correct.Times are hard & a 5.8% raise is shameful. The county is not giving any raises at all.Our economy is in the dumps & the citizens are hurting & do not need for city employees to get a raise of this sort when they are laid off, losing jobs, etc. SAVE, SAVE, SAVE every dollar you can for a rainy day or an emergency that may occur.Tighten your belts just like the citizens are having to do just to get by.Keep up the good work Ms. Temple & vote for "NO INCREASES" in pay. They are blessed to have a job.

I agree, no raises right now. So many people don't even have a job...and therefore aren't paying taxes...think about this.

Every body is having a hard time right now, but what about those guys and girls that work for the city. They have a family to raise and with the rising cost of food, clothes, etc. they need some kind of raise so that they can pay their own bills. Every penny helps when your tring to figure out how to pay bills and feed your kids.

I don't think anyone is getting raises right now. City employees should not be an exception. I take it you are probably a city employee making this argument.

I think a compromise is in order - how about a 2.5 or 3 percent increase. Also, for the multiple duties the city clerk is responsible for and the fact that she has to deal with difficult situations, $10.00 an hour seems like an insult, give her at least the 12.00 dollars an hour it's worth that just to deal with some of the council members(and no I don't know the new city clerk).

What about us that work for the county? Do you think we should get our raises too? I think I should... I have to deal with rising food, clothes and etc. cost. What about us? Do you think we need our raises too?

People working in the private sector are not getting raises. I think that public employees absolutely should not get any raises until those who work in the private sector (i.e. those who pay the salaries of public employees) are getting raises. It's tough on all of us right now (including our employers), and most of us are not getting raises. You should not be an exception.

How about a 6% reduction in taxes to go with that 6% pay raise?
