What a surprise! No really, one could see that someone was just looking for a payout. Much easier for the county to just settle this out of court and cheaper. Fortson will do the same thing. It's sad that some people are just looking to fleece the county for any money they can get. Sad, but that's the times we live in. Oh I am sure they will say something was done that's why the county paid up. No it's just cheaper to do business this way. In the long run the county is much better off with this problem gone.

If this was settled because of cost, why wasn't it settled 4 years ago? Maybe they settle now because Ms. Epps kept winning.

Our court systems can be slow, just because someone receives a settlement however will not make this person justified. Both parties had their lawyers sign an agreement. If this person was winning so much then why take a settlement? Sounds to me as if she knew she had milked the deal for all she was going to get.

I agree with you 110%.You seem to know the facts & comment responsibly. Much appreciated after reading some of the uninformed comments from others.Yes,Morris will more than likely go for the gold. I bet Wesley never documented anything he did wrong since Wesley was NEVER in the office (at his shop)doing other business. Therefore,Morris probably does not have any negative documents in his personnel file to back up all the wrong things he is responsible for.Let's hope & pray the county will win if he sues. If he should win, let's just remember the old saying taught to us by our loving parents....What goes around, comes around. It may take months, years, but I'm sure Morris will reap his just reward for all the sneaky, underhanded things he has done. I'm sure if we knew everyting underhanded that he is responsible for, many of us would have a heart attack. He is one sneaky, controlling person.

For what? Taking our tax dollars for not doing a good job for all those years. Or for milking the county out of money. What goes around comes around.

I agree Louise hasn't done a good job all these years, but if you didn't want her milking county money and you have evidence of it, you should take it to the cops.

I was speaking of the lady that was fired. I think Louise has done a very good job for the county. I also feel that she did the right thing in getting this lady out of the office. The county will pay the money and that will be it. Money well spent, and this lady gets a free ride with the settlement. Come on now, did you expect anything else. We put Louise back in office by the majority of the votes in our county. And I for one will vote again for her.

Are employment laws different for government employees? In private business, it's perfectly legal to discriminate against someone for any reason other than race, religion, sex, color, national origin, physical handicap, sexual orientation, and age. I don't see how this would fall into any of those categories. Unless the lasws are different for gov't emplyees, I don't see how the judge even let this case proceed.

You go Louise! I think you have done a great job! My question is why you can't comment on our new Sheriff. It seems every time someone blogs on him that it gets removed or it states that the author does not allow comments! I also notice on the online athens papers that the comments were removed. Can someone please help me understand this?

I would like to say thank you Mrs. Watson for your service to this county. I think that you have done a great job! I would also like to comment on the new Sheriff, but it seems every time we try to blog on him the newspaper stops the blogs. Can someone please tell me why? Is he off limits to the citizens for comments?
