The Madison County Department of Family and Children’s Services has invited county leaders to a power lunch.
The county DFCS board will host a catered luncheon for the commissioners, board of education, the sheriff and other county dignitaries Feb. 26 at Comer Baptist Church at noon.
The intent is to spread the word about the inner-workings of the DFCS office and its programs.
Originally proposed as a meet-and-great for new county leaders, the board opted to extend the invitation beyond just the newly-elected.
“Just because they’re not new doesn’t mean that they know what they do here,” DFCS director Lisa Plank said.
The event will include five-to-seven minute presentations from DFCS workers. The DFCS office will also distribute informational binders to those in attendance.
Board chairman Gary Locke noted that he’s already met with new commission chairman Anthony Dove.
“I explained to him that we were planning to have something like this,” Locke said, noting that he was “quite favorably impressed,” with Dove.
