Two Norcross men were arrested with a half-pound of methamphetamine during a license check on Commerce Neese Road at Cody Fowler Road on Tuesday, June 17.
The driver, Marcario G. Villegas, 38, of 1473 Shenta Oak Drive and his passenger, Jesus Salgado Solis, of 2342 Plymouth Lane were each charged with one count of trafficking in methamphetamine.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, a van occupied by Villegas and Solis approached the checkpoint.
While stopped, the K-9 patrol dog made a walk around the vehicle and indicated to Deputy Tim Nix that narcotics were present.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded the drugs, which tested positive for meth and carry a street value of approximately $25,000, according to the report by Deputy Donald Carr.
Villegas and Solis were arrested at the scene and their vehicle was seized.
