How do you make a slave? There are two ways to do it. You can make a slave with chains and whips. If you punish the slave enough he or she will finally be obedient just to avoid the pain. But making a slave that way is never permanent.
If the slave ever gets a chance to fight back, or to flee, he will do so. You may break his will, but you will never end his desire for freedom.
The other way to make a slave is far more insidious. It does not involve whips and chains. It is done by keeping him ignorant and totally dependent on his master. This kind of slave never knows the satisfaction of freedom. Thus, he is far less likely to seek it.
The chain and whip method was used in the sugar fields of Haiti. Plantation masters there worked on the principal of buying slaves from Africa and working them as long as possible, then leaving them to die and purchase replacements. Eventually the slaves rebelled, killed off all the whites and set up their own government.
In North America, the other system was used. Slaves were born and raised on Southern plantations. They were taught from infancy to be obedient, but little else. It was against the law to teach a slave to read, because once they have the gift of literacy, they would naturally seek out the knowledge they needed to seek freedom. Today’s history books teach that the War Between the States was fought to end slavery. That is not true.
It was fought to extend federal power over the states. And as soon as it was won, the federal government began a gradual program of drawing the citizens of all states into ever greater dependence on government while keeping us ignorant of the real purpose of that war and subsequent government programs. Now the new Obama administration is making a concerted drive to finish the program. If they succeed, we will all become slaves of the government.
We will all be ignorant of the history of the founding of this nation, of the form of government intended by the founders, the true causes of the bloody “Civil” war. And with more and more welfare programs, we will all soon become totally dependent on government for our basic needs. Once we reach that point, we will be afraid to vote the slave masters out of office, because we will fear starvation, freezing, or other degradations.
Ignorance and dependence will make slaves of all of us, and the program is rapidly approaching success. If we hope to escape this slavery, we had better start opposing it now!

The current path the government is on, is in fact going to increase the number of those that "can do something", do "nothing", for they can get it for free via the redistribution of wealth. This, simply put, is take from those that earned it, and give to those who did not. (In case you want to misquote me, I am trying to make it a bit harder for you).
Currently TV commercials are bombarded with concept of starting unions. I can't understand why, since GM is doing so poorly, yet the auto workers union is supposed to be so great. These commercials are of course sanctioned by the liberals of our great nation. Yet another way to enslave us all is by making our “neighbors, brothers and in some cases, our fathers” hate us more, if we try to stand on principles and not join a union. Somewhere in our past history, we did just that, father against son, brother against brother.
Our current government has spent more in the few months of being in office, than the last government did in its entire eight years in office. This included funding for two wars, which we are currently in, and for Katrina.
Last month taught me a lot regarding how our history is "changed" to reflect so much liberalism in our great nation. Lincoln was prepared to make and amendment to the Constitution, which could not be overturned, guaranteeing slavery to continue forever in the slave states, just to win VOTES.... Of course our history does not teach us this side of the great emancipator.
To end with, a politician is just that, a politician, one who will say anything to get ones vote. It’s not supposed to be that way, but hey... Pelosi and Reid and other liberal thinkers have been heard to say, "the average American is to dumb to know how government works" so we will think for them.
Is this true? Are we that "dumb"? Or are we just lazy? So lazy that we will sit back and watch our nation go down, while we allow the government to continue to spend us into never ending debt? At what point in time, will “We the People” actually stand up again?
Slavery, as was stated in the article, can be brutal with whip and chain, or it too can be very hidden, to a point that it looks good to so many.
I think he must have been speaking of you, however, when he was writing about an ignorant populace. Perhaps that is why he drew your ire.
He was talking about the people becoming slaves to the government. Of course, his point will be moot if the present administration's plans come to fruition. There will be no more evil rich people left in the US to fund all the government handouts on which you place such value.
Or, maybe it will. Then the people will truly become enslaved, working for the government to make taxes so that the government can give them back what the government thinks they need.
Vicious circle.
To take someone else's money, even by government proxy, is stealing.
This mindset is nothing but nothing but a modern day Robin Hood tale - a "feel good" way to say robbery.
We are all a product of the decisions we made. Except for catastrophic illness, we are where we are due to the decisions we made somewhere in the past. Some chose to get an education and work in the corporate world. Others chose the more immediate rewards and went to work directly out of high school.
Those who are losing their houses right now are responsible for the decisions they made. Too much house, not enough money to pay for it. When will we ever stand up and say, "I made the decision and I am responsible for what happens."
What we hear more often than not is, "I'm in trouble, who is going to bail me out?"
I made some pretty good investments in the stock market a few years back and was making good money. Then the economy failed and right now I am losing my fanny. But, these investments are those of my chosing, I made the decision and I will suffer the consequences. When the market changes, and it will, I will once again make some money. I will be responsible for that as well.
You types who want to blame everyone and everythng for your condition need to wake up. YOU made the decision to take the job you have, buy the house you bought, save or spend the money you made. YOU chose to spend the money on a Nascar weekend instead of saving for hard times. YOU determine your fate and where you are in life - all from the decisons you made some place back down the line. NOT Exxon or Ga Power or Wall Street. YOU!!
That means I and all the other taxpayers are at least partially responsible for the "wealth" others mistakenly believe they have "earned."
So, when we tax the hell out of these subsidized crooks piling up money, we are merely getting OUR WEALTH...that WE "earned."
If you're going to be subsidized by the govt. with tax breaks, access to national natural resources, BAILOUTS from taxpayers, corporate tax breaks under one administration, you better be prepared when the people WISE UP and put a better man in office and WE come to collect OUR EARNINGS.
