Man charged with molestation

Eddie Martin Cowan, 48, of 190 Tommy James Road, was charged with one count of child molestation and three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree.

According to the incident report, Deputy Michael Moore met with a man at a Tommy James Road residence who stated that his stepbrother had been abusing his children. No other details were available.

In another arrest, Christopher Lee Porterfield, 17, 9725 Wildcat Bridge Road, Danielsville, was arrested for aggravated assault after his stepfather reported that Porterfield had pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. When Deputy David Kidd arrived on scene, Porterfield had fled into the woods behind the house. The stepfather said that Porterfield had fired several rounds once he was down in the woods. Porterfield came out of the woods during the interview, walked up to the deputy and jumped on the trunk of his patrol car. At that point, Deputy Kidd helped Porterfield down and placed him in handcuffs. He denied having a gun, but after three 22-caliber bullets were found in his right pocket, he took deputies to where the gun was hidden in a ditch behind the house.
