LETTER: Thankful to have Craft at MCHS

Dear Editor:

With an upcoming freshman starting Madison County High School next year, I hated to hear that Mr. Wayne McIntosh was leaving. But I was pleasantly surprised to read that Dr. Tommy Craft was named the new MCHS principal.

I've had the opportunity to work with Dr. Craft during my time with the OneAthens poverty project in Athens-Clarke County.

I was always impressed by his knowledge, willingness to help, and his geniune concern for the well-being of his students. Despite any rumors or what has been written about his departure from Clarke County, I know the overwhelming majority of teachers, parents, and students wanted him to stay and many fought an uphill battle to try to keep him. So, I'd like to thank the Clarke County BOE. Their oversight will be a huge asset to Madison County.

I hope our community shares my sentiment and welcomes Dr. Craft to our county.
