A Colbert man was arrested recently after a scuffle with deputies at his home on Shoal Creek Road.
Gary Dwight Beck, 38, 1265 Shoal Creek Road, was charged with three counts of obstruction of an officer, and one count each of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.
According to the incident report, Lt. Burl Johnson and Deputy Josh Fowler went to the residence to serve a T.P.O. (Temporary Protection Order) warrant on Beck in order to remove him from the residence.
As deputies explained the T.P.O. to Beck, he allegedly became irate and said, “You might as well take me to jail or shoot me,” and flipped a chair over. When deputies attempted to handcuff him for disorderly conduct, he broke away and flipped the kitchen table over. Beck continued to scuffle with deputies on the floor until Lt. Johnson used his taser on him after reportedly warning him he would do so if he did not comply.
Beck was taken to the Madison County Jail.
