Where in the Bible does it say the music must be as follows to be a perfect church? Each church shall consist of one piano and one organ. Each church shall have a choir director that stands up keeping time with his right hand/arm. No church member shall clap his/her hands and/or sway to the beat of the music. Only music inside provided hymnal will be performed. I’ll tell you, it doesn’t.
What is wrong with a church that plays music that reaches to the younger generation of this world? The generation that simply needs God the most! The generation that lacks from open prayer in school. The generation where the home is riddled with divorce and abuse. God can work through this generation to reach other teens and even their parents! The parents that might be on the edge of divorce but a child brings God into the house and helps save the marriage.
What’s wrong with a church that is just on fire for God? What is wrong with a church that gets up on its feet and let’s God know the reason why they rejoice? What’s wrong with swaying to the music and dancing to the beat of the music? Why is it so wrong for a church to make a great joyful noise for the Lord?
Now is the time for the church to reach out to each and every person it can! I can tell you now, my church has not failed me! I was tired of “church” after years of being involved heavily with my one piano and one organ church. A church that if the music didn’t come from the provided hymnal, you didn’t sing it! I grew very disheartened with this and I left God’s path for a long time. Ever since I’ve found a church that is truly doing God’s work and reaching out to all generations! A church that praises God every Sunday with a loud rocking band that gets us jacked for the sermon!
If it hadn’t been for a rockin’ church like the one my family attends, I would still be on a path to nowhere. My rockin’ church didn’t fail me ... It saved me!
Sincerely,
Kevin Cheek

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. -Colossians 2:8.
I would challenge the writer of the previous letter to examine his beliefs on church and how it must be conducted in light of the Scripture. He may be surprised to see that the modern day church set up is quite unlike the church structure we find in early Acts. Specifically on the music issue, I wonder if they sing in Greek and Hebrew at his church? If not, then they aren't singing the same songs they did in the Bible. As hard as it is to believe I don't think when Paul and Silas where singing in the jail house that they were singing "Amazing Grace" or "Just As I Am".
And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. - 1 Corinthians 9:20-22.
Paul says he does what it takes to see people saved. Never changing the message of salvation through the grace of Christ, Paul changed the delivery form of the message to meet the needs of those he was ministering to.
Perhaps the reason churches are failing is not because they are quiting people as much as they are quitting Christ. Jesus tells us in John 12:32 that if He be lifted high from the earth He will draw all men nigh unto Himself. Well, Mr. Ingram we can both agree that Christ was lifted high from the Earth on the Cross of Calvary and can see the fulfillment of His statement in the physical sense. Perhaps though we are seeing the contra of His statement in the physical sense. He is no longer being lifted high in our churches and therefore is no longer drawing men unto Himself. I tell you that it isn't because there is dancing for even King David danced for the Lord in 2 Samuel 6:14. It isn't because there is rap music either. Pending appropriate lyrics, one style of music is just as Biblical as any other style. Simply because you can't understand it and it is not your preference doesn't mean it is of the devil. Christ isn't being lifted high and churches are failing because we are more worried about doing it the way man has been doing it for generations instead of worshiping the way God would have it- in the form that connects and means the most to those worshiping.
Hebrews 10:
19Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near with a sincere heart infull assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful; 24and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Acts 2
1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
1 Thessalonians 5
16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
To Mark: Keep lifting up Jesus
John 12:32
32And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
To Kevin: Rock on!
1 Timothy 2:8
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
Psalm 47
1O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
Psalm 149
1Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. 3Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. 5Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. 6Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand;
