DANIELSVILLE – Steven Arthur “Art” Ryder, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009.
He was the son of Rick and Sandy Ryder of Danielsville, and was an avid student with a passionate heart for learning. He was never so alive as when he was in the classroom. His interest ranged from horticulture to music, and was an accomplished piano, saxophone and tuba player. He achieved the master level in the 4-H twice and went on to be the class salutatorian of the Madison County High School Class of 1997. He was a member of the University of Georgia Redcoat Band and earned a bachelor of science in mathematics from UGA, later earning an MBA from Georgia State University in actuarial science and passed the second level of actuarial exam. He was currently a student at the Medical College of Georgia.
Survivors in addition to his parents, include a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Lee Chancey, Athens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and Garland Ryder, Danielsville, and Will Ryder, Athens; grandmothers, Ruth T. Ryder and Carlie M. Boyer; special nieces, Ella and Lily Kate Chancey.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, June 13, at 2 p.m., in the Danielsville United Methodist Church with the Revs. Calvin Ward and Jack Stahl officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, June 12, from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
