Fix the roads first then worry about the sidewalks.Cars don't drive on the side walks or they're not supposed too? I would worry more about the speed breakers on the roads that need them. It shouldn't cost that much to put in speed breakers? Just dump some asphalt out in a hump from one side of the Rd.to the other? Or get a backhoe and dig a ditch across the road that way if you don't slow down it will knock the front end out from under your car.

I agree with Madison County Resident! Put speed breakers on the residential roads. I live on Edgewood Drive in Danielsville. This road is also used as a cut-through from Crawford W Long Rd, Northridge subdivision, to Hwy 98. I have 2 small grandchildren that live with me, a third that visits almost daily, and several other young children live or visit their grandparent's houses a few feet away. Vehicles speed through here every day, and they pay no attention to the Stop sign on the corner. I have asked for speed bumps several times over the last 5 years to no avail. When we moved to our home almost 20 years ago the cut-through road was just a rutty dirt path that had to be driven on slowly or it would knock your car out of line. My children played outside and rode their bikes safely because cars had no choice but to go slow or mess-up the car. Years ago this dirt path was paved and named Northridge Dr. because it connected Northridge subdivision to Edgewood Drive. Although this area of road is short and narrow there are many careless drivers that fly around this road with disregard to the safety of children. If Madison County needs some revenue money the police should try watching this road! I would love to see a few of the regular careless culprits get caught.

Yes and I have seen the number of cars on the road that goes behind Madison County Middle school before they built the school when the Rd.was dirt nobody used it they would go to the stop sign and turn on Hwy.172 but now they use it as a race track. The County paved the road because the busses use it? People say speed bumps slow them down and to that I say you should have left sooner if you in that big or a hurry.
