A Danielsville man was arrested on family violence charges recently after he allegedly struck his ex-wife.
Gregory Thomas Morgan, 49, 255 Haggard Drive, was charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA).
According to the incident report, Deputy Gary Floyd met with the complainant at her residence on Haggard Drive where she told him that her ex-husband (Morgan) had come to her home drunk and “pushed her around,” at one point banging her head against a wall which left a bruise over her left eye. She stated she called 911 when he punched a hole in her wall and pulled down her shower curtains.
Deputy Floyd found Morgan sitting on the front porch, “shirtless and reeking with alcohol.” The deputy noted that Morgan had trouble standing and that his speech was slurred. Morgan confirmed that he punched the wall and pulled own the shower curtains, but also stated that his ex-wife punched him in the eye. Deputy Floyd noted what appeared to be an “old shiner” under his left eye.
Morgan was transported to the Madison County Jail.
In another family violence arrest, Matthew Joseph W. Pritchett, 20, 3894 Sanford Road, Hull was charged with simple battery after he allegedly attacked his stepfather. According to the incident report, Deputy Gary Floyd responded to a call on Sanford Road to find a crowd of people and an older man hold Pritchett to prevent him from attacking another man (his stepfather). After taking Pritchett into custody, Deputy Floyd talked with the stepfather who stated that Pritchett and his mother were arguing when he “put his hands on her.” The stepfather got between them and that’s when Pritchett reportedly began hitting him. The deputy noted wounds on the stepfather’s face and Pritchett’s mother confirmed the statements.
The deputy noted Pritchett’s speech was slurred and that he smelled of alcohol.
