Six of the seven Madison County all-star teams began play this past week.
Only the Madison County Little League baseball all-stars have yet to play. Their tournament starts Monday against Habersham National.
Several teams were off to hot starts as of press time Wednesday.
The 9-and-10-year-old baseball team won its first three games by an aggregate score of 42-12 to earn a spot in the semifinals tonight (Thursday) against Habersham American.
Meanwhile, the Little League softball all-stars didn’t surrender a run in one-sided victories in their first two games, outscoring their opponents 34-0. That team was slated to face Rabun County Wednesday in the semifinals, but results weren’t available at press time.
In the Junior League softball ranks, Madison County beat Rabun County twice, 7-6 and 11-5. With only two teams in the junior league tournament, Madison County’s two victories gave it the District 7 title.
The Junior League team starts state tournament play July 11 at Rabun County.
