Elberton man arrested for terroristic threats, obstruction
An Elberton man was arrested recently following a 911 hang up call from Rose Hill Place subdivision.
Adam Heard IV, 25, 1356 Old Middleton Road, was charged with one count each of obstruction of an officer, interference with a 911 call and terroristic threats and acts.
According to the incident report, deputies responded to a hang up call and while en route, the dispatcher updated that there had been another call, with background noise of a heated argument.
When deputies arrived, a woman walked into the yard with a man (Heard) right behind her. The two were separated and the woman provided a written statement that Heard had held a knife to her throat and said “call the police now.” She also showed deputies where Heard allegedly pulled the phone jack from the wall as she spoke with 911 dispatch. While the victim was interviewed, Heard reportedly broke free and ran into a wood line behind a next door residence. After a foot pursuit, Heard was captured, placed in handcuffs and taken to the Madison County Jail for processing.
In another arrest, a Hull man was charged with family violence last week after an altercation with his girlfriend.
William Matthew Autry, 24, 852 Wardlaw Road, was charged with one count each of criminal trespass FVA, battery FVA and false imprisonment FVA.
According to the incident report, deputies were summoned to a residence on Joyce Court on June 21 with the report of someone potentially harming himself. When deputies arrived, they interviewed Autry, who said he was having problems in his relationship with his girlfriend. The deputies noted the odor of alcohol coming from his person.
Autry advised that the dispute turned physical when his girlfriend made contact with him and that he may have struck her in the nose in an attempt to protect himself.
While interviewing Autry, the 911 Center reported a call from Autry’s girlfriend and Deputy Douglas Martin left the scene to interview her at a home on Doris Lane. The woman appeared visibly upset and complained of back pain. She told Deputy Martin that Autry had made physical contact with her at the Doris Lane address and had caused damage to the residence.
She was transported by Madison County EMS to St. Mary’s for her injuries and Autry was taken to Athens Regional for a mental evaluation.
