Four juveniles were arrested recently in connection with several recent burglaries in the Garnett Ward Road, Jacob’s Field and Bryce Landing areas off Hwy. 29 south near Hull.

According to Major Shawn Burns, chief deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, four 16 –year-old males were arrested in connection with the case, after officers canvassed the area on four-wheelers. Burns said all four of the teens live in that general area. Officers also recovered several items during the search, including a dirt bike, a plasma TV and a rifle case.

Man lol was the dirt bike, plasma TV and rifle case just laying out in the woods while the officers drove by on four-wheelers. Sounds like something in a video game.

That seems to be the trend in MC. We have a county of repeat offenders that all probably started like these four teens did. We will see their names repeatedly in the paper week after week.

There needs to be a change in the system. Make the time spent in prison hard for these offenders and maybe they will get on the right track.

Well just one week later another one of our sex offenders hits the arrest list for yet one more time, but for a different crime. Tell me when someone violates probabation why are they released back to the streets only to be arrested again.

How many times does it take for a person to be a habitual offender?

I stand on my comment. This county must be so desperate it puts the criminals on probation to fill its loss of revenue.

Collect the unpaid taxes. Foreclose on anyone a year or more delinquent. See how fast the pockets fill up and put these criminals behind bars for good.AKV

I agree Christina Tuckey but being a sex offender is different than a DUI or driving without a license and if you get a couple of DUI's they put you in prison for a long time and if you molest a kid they let you go. Now I ask you who would you rather live next to a convicted drunk or a child molester? I'll take my chances with the drunk.

I would rather not live next to either one of them, but if I had to it would also be the drunk. A drunk can be rehabilitated, both my parents were. But a child molester will never change and that is a fact.

I have seen first hand the damage from drunks and it taught me there was nothing in it for me. Luckily I never had the problem.

I have also seen the damage a child molester can do to a family and the victims. There is no forgetting it and there is no forgiveness. And anyone that says there is has never been through it or they have and they are lieing to themselves.

Unfortunately, it will not change anytime soon because the county is more concerned with money than the welfare of the people in Madison County. If they would just collect the taxes owed to them it would solve alot of the financial problems.

This is why you need to teach your kids right from wrong long before this age? If you don't the Justice system will. These teenagers are starting a life of crime early. These teens will probably say they come from broken homes and didn't have a farther figure in the house? Which they are probably really spoiled brats that have always gotten what they wanted and think nothing will happen to them? Give them a couple years in adult prison to think about the error of their ways? Kiddie jail is a joke if they going to commit adult crimes let them do adult time.

I can't believe what you just wrote. Do you use your "title" at the court house to bennefit your personal life? Is this what the Madison County taxpayers are paying for? I don't care if your job title is clerk, security, tax official, or judge....YOU ARE STILL A COUNTY EMPLOYEE, meaning, you are paid by tax dollars from citizens of that county. Madison County is known for not giving prison time. All Madison County gives is probation.

You say that probation brings revenue, right? Then explain where the revenue is when the ones on probation either don't report or don't pay, and are repeat offenders? The DA should pay to have a revolving door installed at the jail because the ones that are suposedly bringing in this revenue with all the money from being placed on probation are getting caught for the same crimes over and over...sometimes even worse crimes. The reason they keep repeating is because they know probation is all they will get.

Seeing as you "thought" this issue was over, then why bother to come back to read what new is written?

This is a prime example of what is wrong with the justice system in Madison County. Certain officials in the court system are using their positions to bennefit certain people, and that is wrong on every level. If you are ok with that, then just say so, otherwise...deal with my opinion. Better yet, deal with it anyway!

The reason I came back to it was because there was a notice in my email saying someone had commented after all this time.

I am not part of the judicial system in Madison County.

You obviously have either too much time on your hand or you have anger issues you need to get worked out.

What makes you think anyone HAS to deal with your opinion?

We once had a pretty decent conversation on here. I would say if you are that unhappy with the judicial system here MOVE.

If you bothered to read the name I posted under, you would have noticed I am a "former" resident of that county, and the judicial system was one of the main reasons for that move.

As far as my opinion goes, you DON'T have to deal with it, all you have to do is not respond. Like I said before, anyone that uses a "county title" to try and bully people, is wrong. If you are okay with them doing that, then you are as ignorant as they are arrogant, and that is sad to say the least.

Another dept don't want nobody to know who they are or that may be why they got fired(wasting our tax dollars) they ask all of us to go to the court house and see who was missing? They must have been missing so how could they do anything to us? Also Another dept how would you know if we went to the court house or not you wasn't there. That would not be a shock to me at all..

We have listened to the bickering and fighting over this issue for YEARS! It is about time the county did something about the problem. Actions speak louder than words.

I would like an explaination from whoever is responsible to procecute people who do not pay their taxes. Is this person still employeed with the county? Could it be this person is behind in their taxes too?

Maybe if we started a petition demanding action on tax dodgers, something would get done about it. Someone needs to do something to pressure the tax collector into doing the job they were hired to do.

No Anonymous if the tax collector were to put pressure on and procecute the tax dodgers he wouldn't have a job long. You are probably right about that. Maybe the people that pay their taxes on time every year should stop and see how long they go without having a notice put on their door.

I wonder if that is the problem with the county keeping a tax collector, they honest ones are frustrated by the road blocks and they quit.

Too bad it is not required that property taxes are collected monthly by the company holding the mortgages and put in escrow. Then there is no option but to pay them or default on the mortgage payment.

When we bought our house it was automatic that we have our taxes and homeowner insurance included with our monthly mortgage payment and it works out so much better. I never have to worry about my insurance or my taxes BUT when we have to pay two years taxes in one year because of the people in the tax office it raises my payment...............It is not my fault the county is screwed up. It was screwed up when I moved here in 94 and it is still screwed up so what does that tell you.... Never in my life have I ever seen such BS in a county. If I knew I was going to get blasted for one remark, I would not have said it.

Why did I come here, my company pulled out of Florida and I had four children to support so I transfered here with them.

Why did I stay here? I bought a home here and had children in school. They were happy here and that was more important.

Now my children are grown and have children of their own and I want to be a part of their lives. I also have a very good job here .

No that won't work because they moved from those bigger cities because the crime rate was going up and their taxes were going up and they wanted to live in the country in a small town but since they have moved here our crime rate has went up and our taxes too so that tells me the crime followed them. Either they were doing the crimes or someone that moved with them were doing them.
They may not like this screwed up county but they won't move so they must like something about Madison County?

That is a bunch of bull. The people you see in the paper are people from here born and bred. The two child molester I was speaking of are right from Madison County.
Dont blame your crime rate on anyone from other states.
Tell me your taxes have not been screwed up for over ten years. Did people from another state do that to you, I don't think so.
The reason your taxes went up was because you waited twenty years to update the property values and the people intrusted to do that job were people that were from here in Madison County so what does that tell you about the people here. The crime rate has always been the same here by the people who have lived here.
Before you blame anyone else for the problems here in the county you need to clean out your own closet.

I never said that everyone in MC were Child Molesters so don't put words in my mouth. I said that I knew of 2.

I also never said that the people in MC were all bad.

I didn't know you was shallow That means not very deep. As far as asking my kids what they liked about growing up here? My Kids didn't grow up here. My daughter Graduated last year from East Jackson High school and my son goes there now. There Mom lives in Nicholson and they lived with her.

Can anybody tell me something? What I'm gonna be talking about is nothing to do with this story and not sure where to go. My son who is 15 is in Pro Wrestling since (I think ) April 2009 paid $200.00 to start then $25.00 a week and I paid that for 3 months. Total paid $500.00. I had a piece of paper to sign that I can't sue them if they got hurt which I thought if he did get hurt then our insurance would pay for it. My son got hurt and the insurance might not pay it $814.00 estimate so far. Peole who come to the show at Graybell Auction in Royston have to pay $10.00 to get in. They told my son and his friend who is 16 will get little money could be $10.00 each show they do haven't seen it yet and did a show since July. I ask Nick Halen should the boys get apid and he said nobody gets paid not even me and I ask where does the money go and he said taxes, building and ring. Ok but as far as I know they are making more than $1000.00 a month and that's add up $12000.00 a year surely taxes ain't that much. Shane Bell got hurt and broke I don't know if its both feet or one Billy gave Shane the money for medical bill but Nick said Shane is the owner at the time and now he quit on Aug. 22 and now Billy and Nick aare the ownership. When I mention about the money Nick said my son is no longer AWA Ga. Actually I made him quit when I learn that insurance might not pay for it and surely Graybell Auction won't pay for it. I'm not sure if they don't have insurance or business license. Also my son's friend got burn 3rd degees at his neighbor and he hasn't been there to do the show and they told my son to tell his friend that if he don't show up then he will have to pay again $500.00 AGAIN. That's not right he got burned and can't wrestle. They are ripping them boys off. I thought they had to be 18 to wrestle and their body is not finish growing. What is your advice about this. Miss Elaine you most likely need to talk to a lawyer.I'm sure your son didn't sign a contract at that young age so the people he was performing far are going to be hard to bring to task.Tell them you are taking legal action and see what happens.If your son loves to wrestle,talk him into joining the High School team.This will give him something useful to do until he is physically stronger.It's a lot safer also.I hope every thing works out for y,all.
