A Danielsville man was arrested on family violence charges recently after deputies were summoned to his home for a domestic call.
Steven James Davis, 25, 169 Double Split Road, was charged with cruelty to children (third degree) and simple battery FVA.
According to the incident report, Deputy Jason Luke and another deputy found Davis’s wife in the front yard of the residence. The woman stated that she was cleaning up her child’s high chair when her 2-year-old son jumped on Davis, who was asleep on the couch. Davis woke up, allegedly shoving the child off of him, causing the child’s leg to strike the coffee table. The woman then reportedly ran to Davis and hit him on top of the head, at which point Davis allegedly got up and began choking her until she blacked out. When she came to, she told deputies she ran outside and Davis locked the doors so she could not get back in. At some point, he slammed the door on her hand. The child was present during this altercation. Deputy Luke noted red marks on the sides of the victim’s neck and that she had a cut and swollen finger. Davis confirmed most of his wife’s statement and he was taken to the Madison County Jail.
In another arrest, John Bethel Gordon, 30, of 176 J Highland Circle, Danielsville, was charged with simple battery and pedestrian under the influence following an incident at his mother’s New Haven Church Road home.
According to the incident report, Deputy Wesley Bryant arrived at the mother’s residence where he was told that Gordon showed up and grabbed a plate of spaghetti and began “eating and cursing,” saying that he was going to remove his 13-year-old son from his mother’s home. When his mother stood in front of him, Gordon allegedly pushed her down and left the residence walking. Two witnesses confirmed the story. Gordon was found walking with his son nearby and was “very loud and drunk.”

•Russell Scott Hamilton, 37, 1004 Miller McElreath Road, Danielsville, probation violation (original charge: theft by taking).
•Jermaine Hamm, 26, 140 Anderson Lane, Winterville, theft by taking motor vehicle.
•Brandon Michael Hankins, 20, 276 Moonlight Drive, Danielsville, theft by taking motor vehicle, theft by shoplifting, Schedule IV (apolazam), possession, manufacture, distribution, etc. VGCSA with intent to distribute and drugs to be kept in original container.
•Bradley Ryan Holbrook, 27, 165 North Third Street, Colbert, order to incarcerate for child support.
•Curioki Danat Hyche, 21, 181 East Carver Drive, Athens, burglary.
•David Alexander Ledbetter, 26, 1253 Crawford W. Long Street, Danielsville, battery FVA, obstruction of an officer and two counts of cruelty to children.
