There will be several municipal elections this fall, including two mayoral races.
Incumbent Danielsville mayor Glenn Cross will face councilman Philip Croya for his seat, while incumbent Comer mayor Billy Burroughs will face challenger David McMickle for his post.
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Other elections to be held are as follows:
Councilman Chris Peck was the sole qualifier for the mayor’s position. Peck will replace long-time mayor John Waggoner, who is retiring.
Council incumbent Roger Fortson was also the lone qualifier for his council position.
However, there were three candidates who qualified for the council position vacated by Chris Peck. They are Ellyn Trinrud, Timothy Wyatt and Reginald A. Hunter.
Incumbent Mayor Paul Elkins was the only one to qualify for the Hull’s mayoral position.
Council incumbent Paul Cook, who was appointed to his seat in 2007, will face newcomer Paige Phillips.
Each of these seats are four-year terms.
District 1 incumbent Melissa Yarbrough did not qualify for her seat, however Jimmy Yarbrough did qualify for this seat. District 2 incumbent Laquita Bridges was the only qualifiers for her position.
The mayoral election will be held Nov. 3 at Comer City Hall.
There will be no election in Carlton this year.
Incumbents Mayor Rufus Kidd and council members David Seawright and Claudia Thornton were the only ones to qualify for their seats.
Newcomers Mike Jones, Terry Kidd and Joey Cash were lone qualifiers for the remaining seats at the council table. Incumbents Myron Hedgelon, Robert Tucker and Marty Tucker did not qualify for re-election.
These are two-year terms that begin Jan. 1, 2010.
Newcomers Ron Faust qualified for Croya’s Seat 1 position at the council table and Jamie Spurlin qualified for Seat 2, currently held by Barbara Dove, who did not qualify.
