A Hwy. 106 convenience store was reportedly burglarized early Sept. 28.
According to the incident report, Jai’s Country Corner was broken into around 2 a.m. through a busted out back door.
Over $5,000 in cash and goods were reportedly taken from the store. This is the second reported theft at this store in a month. A clerk at Jai’s was reportedly robbed on Aug. 27 by a lone white male with a handgun and wearing a Halloween face mask.
In another incident, a Colbert woman will likely be charged with cruelty to children after she allegedly left bruising and a whelp on her two small children.
According to the incident report, Deputy David Kidd was called to a home on Hardman Morris Road for a domestic dispute between a father and daughter. Once on scene, the parents told Kidd that their 24-year old daughter had struck the father in the face while they were arguing over the woman’s alleged abuse of her two small children.
Their daughter had left the residence, but the deputy observed bruising on the arms of one child and a whelp on the back of the other child’s thigh, just below his diaper. The woman’s mother reported that her daughter is very harsh with the children and that she “curses them often.”

I believe you meant "welt."
A whelp is a small puppy.
The owners of this store helped us raise money for expenses while my son was in the hospital in Atlanta a year ago. They are very generous people with a good heart.
I think all stores should have cameras to catch thieves.
