A Carlton couple was arrested on family violence charges recently after an incident at their home.
Michael Leonard Lawrence, 39, and Michelle Renee Mack, 40, 688 Paoli Road, were charged with one count each of aggravated assault and cruelty to children.
According to the incident report, the couple, who’ve been living together for 16 years, got into a fight after Mack discovered that Lawrence had a child with another woman.
The pair began wrestling with each other in the bedroom and one of them grabbed a pair of scissors. At one point, Mack said Lawrence grabbed her around the neck and began to choke her. Mack’s daughter ran into the room and attempted to break up the fight and all three fell onto the bed during the struggle. Both subjects were arrested and taken to the Madison County Jail.
In another arrest, Harley Doyle England, 21, 153 West Briarwood Lane, Nicholson, was charged with theft by taking, failure to drive within a single lane, leaving the scene of an accident and DUI, after he allegedly took his father’s vehicle without permission and wrecked it.
According to the incident report, deputy Timothy Parr found a man passed out in the cul de sac. While at the scene, England’s father approached deputy Parr and told him he needed to come to the house to see his son. Once questioned, England confessed that he had taken the vehicle without permission and hit a fence on Nowhere Road.
