A Norcross man was sentenced to 10 years probation in Madison County Superior Court on a methamphetamine charge.
Macario G. Villegas, 39, was also fined $2,025 for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute (reduced from trafficking in methamphetamine).
Other actions filed recently in the office of the Clerk of Superior Court of Madison County include:
•Jeffery Scott Goss, 44, Danielsville, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $320 for theft by receiving stolen property. A charge of theft by deception was dismissed.
•Daniel Wayne Thornton, 35, Hull, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $1,150 for possession of hydrocodone. A charge of drugs in original container was dismissed.
•Ronald Cox, 54, Hull, was sentenced to three years probation and fined $697 for violation of Georgia’s Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA) — possession of cocaine.
•Marcus L. Hathcock, 46, Colbert, was sentenced to four years probation for possession of a schedule II controlled substance and one year probation for marijuana — less than an ounce. He was also fined $675.
I have heard all my life if your going to break the law come to Madison County and do it because all you will get is probation. The Sheriffs Dept. is doing their job by arresting these people but our courts are not doing their jobs because they let them go time after time. Why do we even have these Judges get rid of them and let the Sheriffs Dept. do it that would help the Goverment cut backs.Do away with these Judges and think about all the money Madison County could save?
My family has been affected by drug dealers and after SEVERAL calls to the ADA to no avail, they too will probably only get probation. The way I see it is he is looking for an easy win in court without doing any actual work. If he REALLY cared about the citizens of Madison County and the families that are affected EVERYDAY by theses drugs and the people that supply them, he wouldn't be so eager to release them out on the streets again. Maybe when one of these dealers offers it to one of his family members, he'll have a different outlook on the harm they actually do. IMHO, he needs to be replaced with someone who has a ZERO tolerance with this riff raft.
Personally I think they should go up there to that nice goverment complex in Danielsville and clean house. Fire the ones who are just there for a paycheck and hire someone who really wants a job and that can make a difference. And with all the people that have been put out of work lately some of them could do a better job than some of the ones in office.
The sheriffs department has arrested people in posession of drugs and the (which is evidence) and the district attny "chooses" to go the easy way out by plea bargaining down to probation. That is unexceptable in my book, especially when these offenders are repeats.
