I stated that an apology to those offended by the remarks would seem to be the right thing to do. As of this date, I know of only one of our commissioners to issue an apology for the remarks made. I want to thank Commissioner Wes Jordan for calling our zoning administrator and myself to apologize and insure that this type thing not happen in the future.
I am thankful that Commissioner Jordan acted responsibly and took the time to insure that all actions be in the best interest of our county. We had a very productive conversation which cleared all our concerns. It is an admirable quality to initiate actions which correct misunderstandings and Commissioner Jordan’s action demonstrated to me his sincerity in working for the good of our county.
I would also like to thank Commissioner Stanley Thomas for the work he has done to improve our county. I do not understand the unwarranted attacks against him. I have gotten to know Stanley since we competed against each other in the 2004 District 1 Commission election. Since his election as District 1 commissioner he has worked tirelessly to improve our county. He has attended the Madison County Chamber of Commerce annual state legislature trip each year since his election and has been instrumental in obtaining grant monies for our county. I think it’s time for the unfounded attacks to stop and those responsible should be embarrassed by their actions. Stanley’s actions have been honest and sincere and no laws have been broken, but evidently there seems to be a handful of people in our county that oppose creative and visionary change. I am glad to have Stanley as my District 1 Commissioner and pray for him as he continues to work for our best interest.
Sincerely,
Wayne Douglas
