The Madison County Industrial Development and Building Authority met briefly Jan. 18, hearing that water customers continue to increase.
Utility director Steve Shaw said the water department billed 685 water customers in December and that over five million gallons of water were used.
Shaw said the Harrison water system is moving along and that new water customers from that system will increase county water customers to over 700 in the next few weeks.
As to the county sewer system, Shaw said work continues to progress.
“It’s starting to look a little bit like something,” Shaw said.
Executive director Marvin White said there will be a $1,500 increase in insurance premiums with Chastain and Associates this year. White said the increase was expected since the IDA had added a number of fixtures and equipment in 2009.
