Danielsville man charged with DUI

Matthew Martin Randall, 32, 712 Young Harris Road, was charged with one count each of DUI/alcohol and weaving over roadway.

According to the incident report, a clerk at the Hwy. 29 South Golden Pantry in Hull told 911 that a man driving an old blue Ford truck had fallen out of his truck when he stopped to get gas. After stumbling to the gas pumps, he then came inside the store to reportedly try to get the clerk to fight with him. He then went back to his truck and almost ran into the ditch leaving the store.

Deputy Lt. Jeffrey Vaughn found the truck in a ditch on Hwy. 29 just south of the store. The driver (Randall) was spinning his tires trying to get out of the ditch. When Vaughn approached him Randall immediately began to tell the deputy he was drunk and that he was going to “walk the white line” for him. When asked for his identification he began cursing and told them his “mama owned 500 acres and he’d be out of jail in ten *&^%@#% minutes.”

He then began to try to walk the white line, cursing and swinging at Vaughn when he attempted to get him off the road for his safety. Vaughn and another deputy placed Randall in cuffs and advised him he was under arrest for DUI.

Randall then allegedly began to tell them that he was “just sitting in his vehicle on the side of the road” and that he was “out of gas.” He refused the breathalyzer test.

On the ride to jail Randall reportedly continued to curse and call the Lt. Vaughn foul names. He also said several times that he (Vaughn) could meet him at 712 Young Harris Road and he would “kick his @*#.”
