A Hull man was arrested recently for family violence against his mother.
Julio Cesar Flores, 27, 9574 Hwy. 72 West, Lot 44, was charged with one count of battery under the Family Violence Act.
According to the incident report, deputies first made contact with Flores, who said his brother beat him up. Flores had a swollen eye, a busted lip and a small laceration on his cheek. When they went to interview the brother, they found Flores’ mother, who told them that she and Flores had gotten into an argument while he was intoxicated and that he had grabbed her by the wrists and threw her on the floor. The woman had visible marks on her left wrist, which had been bleeding, according to the report, along with carpet burns. When the brother came to get her, Flores reportedly became combative again and the brother defended himself and his mother.
In another arrest, a Colbert woman was charged with DUI after her car was found overturned on Colbert Smithonia Road.
Joanne Rose Snyder, 55, 1699 Hardman Morris Road, was charged with DUI/alcohol and weaving over the roadway.
According to the incident report, Deputy Michael Moore detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from her. She told the deputy that she had had two glasses of wine at dinner and was traveling on Colbert Smithonia Road when she lost control on a curve and ran off the road into an embankment, which caused her car to overturn.

•Kaneshia Lasha Green, 21, 341 Fountain Street, Elberton, weaving over roadway and illegal possession of controlled substance.
•Aaron Jermaine Hitchcock, 27, 492 Farm Road, Colbert, failure to appear.
•Tonya Octavia Jones, 33, 114 Broad Acres, Athens, deposit account fraud/bad checks.
•Lesley Sharon Lewis, 39, 113 Beverly Lane, Hull, more than two headlights prohibited and driving while license withdrawn.
•Kenya Pamela McCulough, 30, 312 Norwood Circle, Athens, hold for Jackson County.
•Douglas William Parham, 39, 1282 Hwy. 72 Athens, probation violation.
•Travis Steven Pressley, 30, 71 Red Hill Road, Commerce, two counts of failure to appear, one count of obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers and one count of giving a false name, address, or date of birth to an officer.
•Jonathan Daniel Samples, 18, 85 Sun Grove Road, Danielsville, possession of marijuana.
•William Scott Shoemaker, 24, 83 B and L Lane, Danielsville, failure to appear.
•Quinnton Devontay Smith, 18, 121 Sartain Drive, Athens, speeding in excess of maximum limits and driving without a license.
