Three family members were arrested in Diamond Hill Trailer Park on Hwy. 29 North recently following a 911 call about a man hitting his wife with a truck.
Timothy Olin Porterfield, 44, 5657 Hwy. 29 South Diamond Hill Trailer Park, Lot 16, was charged with one count of aggravated assault, while his wife, Ginny May Porterfield, 34, of the same address, was charged with battery/simple battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA). In addition, Mrs. Porterfield’s sister, Sherie May Cromer, 41, of 5657 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 28, Diamond Hill Mobile Home Park, Hull, was charged with disorderly conduct.
According to the incident report, the trouble began when Mrs. Porterfield got into an argument with her stepson, striking him with a bottle in the left eye. Deputy Michael Moore noted that the boy was crying and had a red mark on his left eye and face. While the two were arguing, Mr. Porterfield allegedly backed into Mrs. Porterifeld with his pickup truck, causing her to fall to the ground. Mr. Porterfield reportedly admitted that he hit his wife with his truck, but that he didn’t mean to. However, a witness at the scene told deputies the Porterfields and their son were arguing outside when Mr. Porterfield got into his truck and backed into his wife and then got out of the truck and yelled at her. While deputies were arresting the Porterfields, Ms. Cromer came over to Mr. Porterfield and his son, saying that they were going to “get theirs” and approaching them in an aggressive manner. She was then handcuffed and arrested as well.
