Battery reported on Cowart Toole Road
Battery FVA was reported on Cowart Toole Road after a man told deputies that his “wife’s boyfriend” had walked into his bedroom, called him a p*##+ and slapped him in the face, then punched him in the left eye, which was beginning to swell when officers arrived.
According to the wife, both men had been drinking and she tried to make her boyfriend stop. The victim was advised of the warrant and TPO process.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office recently included:
•A woman on Reese Fowler Drive reported that her estranged husband stole her car and that she has told him several times to return the vehicle as she is the registered owner. She was advised of the warrant process and the vehicle was listed as stolen.
•Simple battery was reported on Fowler Freeman Lane after a woman told officers her husband threw her to the floor during an argument over text messages on his phone that she believed were from a 12-year-old female. The man stated that she was “cussing and yelling” at him and when he put his hand over her mouth she bit him. There were no visible marks on either party, the officer noted. His mother came and picked him up to stay the night with her.
•A rental home was reportedly broken into on Aderhold Rogers Road.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Eugene Hardman Road when a woman said her ex-husband called her numerous times, telling her at one point that “if she did not let him see his son, she would need a casket.” She was advised of the TPO process.
•A deputy summoned to a reckless driver call on Hwy. 72 at Meadow Lane found a truck, still running, in a ditch. The driver’s side door was open and a white male was lying on the ground beside it. He was transported by EMS to St. Mary’s in Athens.
•A mailbox was reportedly pulled up out of the ground and left on the shoulder of the road on Betty Fogger Lane.
•A battery was reportedly taken from a vehicle on Hwy. 106 South.
•A Craftsman riding lawn mower was reportedly stolen from a home on Norwood Road.
•Harassing phone calls were reported on Pleasant Acres Farm Road when a woman told an officer that her 13-year old daughter had been sending her harassing text messages from Florida that contained profanity. The deputy contacted the daughter and told her to stop sending the messages and have her grandmother contact her mother, if needed.
•Terroristic threats and acts were reported on Creekwood Drive when a couple reported that a neighbor threatened to burn their house down.
•A burglary was reported on Smith Road and a number of items were taken.
•First degree forgery was reported on Wellington Drive when a man said someone had used his debit card to purchase an airplane ticket.
•Burglary was reported on Colonial Drive when a man said a neighbor had taken $15 out of his wallet while he was in the bathroom. The neighbor denied the theft, but gave the complainant $15 anyway.
•Simple battery was reported on Creekwood Drive when a woman said her former husband, who was staying with her at the residence, had slapped her in the face and kicked and hit her in the stomach and ribs the day before. She complained of pain in her stomach and ribs and was transported to an Athens hospital by EMS. The suspect was not able to be located and the victim was advised of the warrant process.
•Simple battery was reported on Waynes Lane when a woman reported that her daughter pushed her down, causing her to fall into a storm door during a verbal dispute concerning grandchildren.
•Battery was reported on Norwood Lane after a woman reported that her mother had struck her in the face.
•Reckless conduct was reported on Cedar Lane when a man said his neighbor fired a gun at close range while his three children were outside, causing them to run inside the house crying. The neighbor, who said he was not familiar with the area and who was drinking a beer when the officer arrived, was told not to fire any more weapons towards homes and not fire any weapon while intoxicated.
•An unruly juvenile was reported on Buddy Moore Road after a man reported that his son began to be unruly while they were in a van in Ingles parking lot, striking the windows and hollering. Once home, the child began to break items in the house and tried to harm himself, according to the report. The child was taken by his father to a hospital for evaluation.
•A woman on Seagraves Mill Road reported harassing phone calls from another woman, who she believes is associated with her soon-to-be ex-husband. The caller allegedly told the victim in one call that she’d “stomp her @##” if she sees her out.
•Burglary was reported at a storage building on Charles Hart Road.
•Someone tried to pry the top off a parking fee box at Watson Mill State Park. According to the report, the box was a total loss and will need to be replaced.
•Theft by taking was reported on Aaron Brown Road at a garage after a woman found that her 1993 BMW, which she had taken to be repaired, was missing, and had been taken to a scrap yard. The garage owner, who had reportedly had the car for several months, said he did not know the car was missing.
•A juvenile male was reportedly robbed at gunpoint outside his residence on Oak Circle recently.
•A woman on Hwy. 172 said that a man choked her and punched her in the face during an altercation. Deputy Chad Parr observed a swollen black right eye. The woman’s 11-year old son witnessed the event and said he saw the man choke his mother. Warrants will be issued for the man’s arrest. He was not at the scene following the incident.
•A woman on Cedar Lane reported that her medication is missing. She said she believes it was taken by her niece, who had been staying with her.
•An air conditioner was reportedly stolen from a home on Oakview Drive.
•Aggravated assault was reported on Creekwood Drive when a man was allegedly struck by a van following an altercation at the residence.
•A suspicious structure fire was reported on Pine Street in Ila. The reported stated that the mobile home had been vacant for more than a week and that power had been disconnected. The fire chief said the fire appeared to have been intentionally set and that the fire marshal had been notified.
•Battery was reported on Fitzpatrick Road when a man said another man “head-butted” him in the face. He was left with a bloody nose and swelling.
•A woman on Pine Valley Farm Road reported that a former boyfriend called a friend of hers and told him that she (victim) “better not go to sleep because he was going to burn her house down.” The woman said the suspect repeatedly calls her place of work and harasses her and that she had her cell phone number changed so he couldn’t call it anymore. She was advised of the TPO process.
•Three suicide attempts or threats were reported in the county

•Someone allegedly threw a baseball through a mobile home window on Grady Drive and broke it while the resident was gone to church.
•Aggravated assault was reported on Macedonia Church Road when a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend’s mother, with whom she lives, had come into her bedroom and hit her while she was arguing with her ex-boyfriend.
