Man charged after firing gun behind fire hall

Waymon Bryan McEntire, 42, 235 Transco Road, was charged with simple assault, reckless conduct, discharge of firearms on property of another an discharge of firearms on or near public highway or street.

According to the report, McEntire was trying to deal with two suspects whom he said had committed a theft at his residence.

Other arrests on file at the sheriff’s office this week included:

•Mary Diane Barrett, 54, 98 Victoria Road, Carlton, was charged with DUI and weaving over roadway after a deputy observed her run a stop sign, go into a ditch and strike the curb in front of Paoli Junction store on Hwy. 172.

•Joshua Steven Horne, 31, 278 George Washington Avenue, Colbert, was charged with two counts of prescription drugs must be in their original container, two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and one count of DUI after deputy Chad Parr reportedly found him sitting in the middle of Sorrow Patterson Road. His truck was parked up the road with the driver’s side door open and the music blaring. When asked if that was his truck he answered “probably.” Several pills believed to be Valium and methadone, were found in a bottle in the truck. When Deputy Parr asked him how much he’d had to drink, Horne reportedly replied “three or four beers.”

•Kristin Camille Propst, 31, 112 Jefferson Street, Statham, was charged with burglary and stalking after she allegedly entered her ex-boyfriend’s house on Crabapple Hollow Road and took his cell phone while he was sleeping in his recliner. According to the incident report, the man woke up while she was standing over him and told her to leave. He then discovered his cell phone missing and went next door to call 911. Propst reportedly drove up to the home while officers were there and was arrested.
