A Statham man was arrested Friday night on commercial gambling violations following a Piedmont Northern MANS unit raid on his Hull convenience store.
Mohammad Shafiq, 39, of 176 Ernie Way, Statham, was booked into the Madison County Jail on two charges of commercial gambling. Madison County Sheriff’s Office officers assisted in the raids.
According to chief deputy Mike Benner, this is the second time the Quick Check convenience store at the corner of Glenn Carrie Road and Hwy. 29 South has been cited for illegal cash payouts involving video poker machines.
Three other businesses in the county; the Food Mart on Hwy. 98 near Commerce, the Quick Pick on Hwy. 72 in Colbert and Armors Game Room, also on Hwy. 29 South in Hull (Dogsboro Community) were also raided Friday night. Benner said charges are pending in these cases as well.
