A Statham man was arrested Friday night on commercial gambling violations following a Piedmont Northern MANS unit raid on his Hull convenience store.
Mohammad Shafiq, 39, of 176 Ernie Way, Statham, was booked into the Madison County Jail on two charges of commercial gambling. Madison County Sheriff’s Office officers assisted in the raids.
According to chief deputy Mike Benner, this is the second time the Quick Check convenience store at the corner of Glenn Carrie Road and Hwy. 29 South has been cited for illegal cash payouts involving video poker machines.
Three other businesses in the county; the Food Mart on Hwy. 98 near Commerce, the Quick Pick on Hwy. 72 in Colbert and Armors Game Room, also on Hwy. 29 South in Hull (Dogsboro Community) were also raided Friday night. Benner said charges are pending in these cases as well.

•Christy Nicholson Gaddis, 41, 2815 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, hold for Toombs County.
•Phillip Lynn Gaither, 45, 4727 Hudson River Church Road, Danielsville, terroristic threats and acts.
•Phillip Scott Moon, 31, 189 First Street, Colbert, child support.
•Shane Nicholas Roberts, 20, 1090 Hardman Farm Road, Carnesville, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and sale, distribution, possession, etc. of methamphetamine. (Comer PD)
•Robert David Russell, 44, 288 Meadow Lane, Hull, driving without a license.
•Jesus Enrique Saldana, 32, 5657 Hwy. 29 South, Lot 25, Athens, probation violation (original charge: no license/DUI/misrepresenting vehicle).
•Tiffany Marie Tillman, 18, 1576 Garnet Ward Road, Hull, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, obstruction of an officer and possession of methamphetamine.
•Billy Dean Vickers, Jr., 46, 29 Easy Street, Hull, two counts of order to incarcerate for child support.
•Samuel Leon Barnes, 32, 241 Caltalpa Way, Athens, reckless driving and speeding.
•Fernando Colin Bernal, 23, 1465 Hwy. 29 Lot 7, Athens, two counts of DUI/endangering a child under age 14, driving without a license, DUI/alcohol, speeding and child restraint law (seat belt).
•Bradley Scott Causer, 19, 1090 Hardman Farm Road, Carnesville, DUI/second offense, failure to drive within a single lane and windshields and windshield wipers.
