Bond was denied recently for a 19-year-old man Danielsville man who was arrested May 27 on multiple family violence charges after he allegedly broke several bones of his 2-month old stepson.
Corey Alexander Lawrence, of 1859 James Spring Road, Danielsville, is charged with cruelty to children, cruelty to children causing excessive physical or mental pain (first degree), two counts of battery FVA and two counts of reckless conduct.
Chief deputy Shawn Burns said bond was denied out of concern for the community and for Lawrence’s safety due to threats against him.
According to the incident report, the child had been seen by a doctor’s office that day and had multiple broken bones. The doctor called the Madison County Department of Family and Children’s Services and Lawrence was arrested. His wife, Kelli Grace Lawrence, 21, of the same address was arrested June 2 and charged with first degree child cruelty, reckless conduct and being a party to the crime. She was released on bond.
The child remains in the care of the Department of Family and Children’s Services.
