Three men were arrested recently after they were caught allegedly stealing watermelons from a patch along Hwy. 98.
Bradley Ryan Holbrook, 29, 502 Miller McElreath Road, Danielsville, was charged with theft by taking, marijuana possession less than an ounce and obstruction.
Tyler Christian Jordan, 18, 165 North Third Street, Colbert, was charged with marijuana possession less than an ounce, obstruction, theft by taking and knowingly driving a motor vehicle on suspended, canceled or revoked registration.
Kevin Dwayne Turner, 19, 132 Gosnell Hutto Road, Danielsville, was charged with theft by taking.
According to the incident report, officer Gary Floyd responded to a “rolling theft call” when a man reported that a white truck was leaving his father’s watermelon patch with a load of stolen watermelons and that he was following the vehicle. Deputy Floyd caught up with the truck at the intersection of Kirk Langford Road and Hwy. 174. The truck then slammed on brakes and all three of the occupants ran from the vehicle into the woods, and the truck rolled into a ditch. Floyd found a marijuana roach on the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Turner was later found walking along the road, arrested and taken to jail where he agreed to answer questions and fill out a witness form. Warrants were then issued for Holbrook and Jordan.
In another incident, a Hull man was arrested after he allegedly struck another man on the face and left the residence in the victim’s red Ford Thunderbird.
Matthew Joseph Shook, 32, 110 Williams Wilson Road, Hull, was later charged with felony theft by taking, battery FVA and terroristic threats and acts.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office recently included:
•Aggravated assault was reported on Aiken Road after officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute in which someone had a knife. On arrival they found the male victim who had visible injuries to his abdomen and was bleeding. He refused treatment by EMS. Warrants were issued for the offender, who had left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
•A woman on Rogers Church Road reported that someone had used her bankcard to make several fraudulent out-of-state charges. Her bank had notified her of the suspicious activity.
•Someone reported that copper plumbing pipe and electrical wiring, together valued at more than $4,000, were cut from a residence on Virginia Lane.
•A home on Maplewood Lane was reportedly burglarized last week. A woman said she came home to find a window broken out in her bedroom. She was uncertain what had been stolen, but did find a tire tool on her kitchen table that was not hers.
•A domestic dispute was reported in Tranquility Mobile Home Park last week when a woman said she and her ex-boyfriend had been arguing all morning.
•A man walking on Thomas Road reported that he had been bitten by a red pit bull. The officer noted that he had puncture marks on his right ankle and was bleeding from his wounds. The deputy found the dog, which ran out of the yard at the patrol car, but he was unable to locate the owner. The incident was turned over to animal control.
•A microwave and dishwasher were reportedly stolen from a home on Covey Drive.
•A domestic dispute was reported on Jot-Em-Down Road. A woman told the responding officer that she wanted a divorce and had called police to make her husband leave. She was informed that a divorce was a civil matter and that the officer couldn’t make him leave for that reason. Both were advised to get lawyers if they could not work out their problems.
•A woman on Dillard Road reported that someone had damaged her mailbox twice in the past week.
•A mail scam was reported by a man on AC Carey Road. The man told officers that he had received two money orders through the mail and that he has been communicating with a woman in Africa who said she was unable to cash her work paychecks. She had asked the victim if he would accept money orders from her boss and then cash them for her. Her plan, according to the victim, was to save up enough money for her plane ticket home and that he could then send her the money through Western Union. When he received the money orders, he became suspicious and took them to his bank where they determined that they were copies of previous money orders that had been cashed months before.
•A mailbox on Camp Halinan Road was reportedly damaged beyond repair.
•A woman on Long Peeples Road reported that she has had numerous problems with her 13-year-old stepdaughter over the last couple of months. She stated that she believes the girl tried to kill her by dipping her toothbrush into the toilet so she would contract e-coli. She also stated that her e-mail and phone accounts have been entered by an unknown person, who she believes to be her stepdaughter. She requested to speak to an investigator about the problems, which also include concerns about her stepdaughter’s living situation and life choices.
•An unlocked car with the keys inside was reportedly stolen from a residence on Jot-Em-Down Road.
•Someone reported that items were stolen from an Isuzu Rodeo on Wesley Chapel Road.
•An air conditioning unit was reportedly stolen from a vacant home for sale on Rogers Church Road.
•Burglary was reported on Spring Branch Road.
•Harassing phone calls and criminal trespass were reported at a home on Fowler Freeman Road.
•Terroristic threats and acts were reported on Wildcat Bridge Road after a man said another man threatened his life, saying “I’ll kill you m#$%@!f*(+@%.”
•A flat screen TV was reportedly taken from a home on Virginia Lane.
•A woman on Woodale Street reported that her ex-boyfriend has been calling and harassing her. He reportedly told her that whole family was “going down.” She was advised of the TPO and warrant process.
•Burglary was reported on Willis Glenn Road. Jewelry was reported missing.
•An air conditioner was reportedly stolen from a vacant rental home on Sartain Drive.
•A heat pump was reportedly stolen from a home on Garnett Ward Road.
