Colbert couple charged with growing marijuana
A Colbert couple was arrested recently after a Governor’s Task Force helicopter spotted several patches of marijuana growing just south of Danielsville.
Calvin Lloyd Senclair, 47, and Mary Ellen Senclair, 51, both of 192 Christmas Circle, were each charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance.
According to the incident report, the pilot radioed deputy Scott Pulliam that as he was returning to Athens to refuel he had spotted several large patches of marijuana plants on Christmas Circle. While the deputy was en route, the pilot notified him that a white male in a red sleeveless shirt (Senclair) was trying to pull up the plants. A few moments later the pilot notified the officer that the man and a white female companion were attempting to flee in a white Jeep Cherokee. Pulliam and Sheriff Kip Thomas intercepted the vehicle in the driveway.
A total of 83 plants, some six feet tall, were found. After obtaining a search warrant, officers also found drying marijuana, scales, a bag of mushrooms, rolling papers, a smoking pipe and other drug-related paraphernalia at one of the residences there.
In another arrest, Steven Brian Perdue, 26, of 587 Adams Duncan Road, Hull, was charged with obstruction, aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts after he allegedly tried to set fire to someone he was arguing with.
According to the incident report, deputies responded to a fight in progress on Adams Duncan Road. Once there, officers spoke with a woman who said that Perdue and the other man had been drinking and began to argue. Perdue allegedly told the victim, “If you don’t leave, I’m going to burn you alive.”
When the man didn’t leave, Perdue reportedly got a can of gasoline and poured it over the victim. Before he could get a lighter, the victim began to fight with Perdue. The woman broke up the fight before officers arrived. Then, while Perdue was talking with an officer, he reportedly stuck the officer in the chest with his hand. He was handcuffed immediately and placed in the back of a patrol car.

it would cut down on so many people using legal drugs like loritab and the rest illegaly..
the drugs given by doctors are abused 100 times more than legal pot would be..
i have never heard of anybody robbing, stealing,or killing others to by pot..but look at the havok these other drugs play on society..
its a shame...the money spent to catch these growing pot is minimal to the cost to try to catch it...
its stupid...
LEGALIZE IT NOW !!!
quit wasting government funds that could be used elsewhere...
A pure waste of taxpayers funded time and money.
I wish we were as smart as the good folks living back in 1933 that pushed to repeal alcohol prohibition, but we're not.
Also wish we had brave Leaders in our government today like Franklin D. Roosevelt, but we don't.
Legalizing Pot nationwide would be a tremendous tax boost, provide jobs, and help our economy. Billions wasted each year on law enforcement and the court system could be saved or spent stopping more serious crimes, like Prostitution!(?) Oh boy.
How can we be dumber now than we were 80 years ago? What happened?
