A Royston man was arrested on Sam Bruce Road recently after someone reported a suspicious vehicle parked “in some tall grass beside the tower.”
Kevin Michael Reynolds, 29, 514 Wildcat Bridge Road, was charged with one count of loitering.
According to the report, officer Alan Stratton found a Chevrolet S-10 pickup in weeds and briars and noticed a man (Reynolds) dressed in all black, walking toward him.
When Reynolds was close enough, Stratton told him to show him his hands. Reynolds turned away at first, but when the officer repeated his order, telling him to come to him, Reynolds complied. Stratton noted that the man was very nervous and had sweated through his clothing. When Stratton patted him down he found a black ski mask and a John Deere knife in his pockets and a large hunting knife in his waistband.
Reynolds allegedly told several different stories about why he was there, including saying that he got tired and pulled over, then somehow ended up in the woods looking for his house. He also said he had gotten stuck and attempted to walk home but got lost. After he was arrested, he agreed to talk, telling Stratton that he had parked the vehicle in the weeds and walked to his girlfriend’s house on Aaron Brown Road. He said the two had been arguing and that he suspects she is sleeping with her brother-in-law, so he went there to see if they were together, but found no one at home.
In another incident, David Odis Fields, 31, of 593 Piedmont Road, Hull, was charged with obstruction, criminal trespass and public drunkenness after deputies were called to his neighbor’s house multiple times.
According to the incident report, a woman who lives next door to Fields said he kept coming over to her house and bothering her. She told officers that she was afraid of him because he had just gotten out of prison and knew her husband was not home.
After the first call, officers went to talk with Fields, who told them he didn’t want any trouble and would stay home. Ten minutes later, they received another call that he was at the residence knocking on the door. When they arrived, he had gone and they couldn’t find him. After a third call, deputies staged themselves nearby so they could walk to the residence. After receiving yet another call, officers arrived to find Fields in the carport. He crawled under the car in an attempt to avoid officers and had to be pulled from under it. Deputies noted a strong odor of alcohol and Fields told them he had had a few drinks. On the way to jail, he told officers he couldn’t help himself because he was “mental.” When one of the officers asked him what he meant he began to use foul language toward the officer.
I bet if a Judge were to rule that if the BOC wanted the bridge fixed it would come out of their pay and it would have to be done right this time they would quickly vote to close the road?
BUT I do say if they want to fix the bridge and reopen the road and if people keep dumping make the BOC start going out there and picking up the trash once a month and they will call a meeting and vote to close the road. They may want the road open as long as someone else is having to pick the trash up and not THEM.
I will not take part in any further heated arguments. This is my opinion, and I have a right to it just like all of you have a right to yours. I just thought it was about time that someone who actually has been there forever, not a newcomer, voiced an opinion. I think you will find that most of the long time residents of the area will agree with me.
