A reward of $5,000 is being offered for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who robbed First Citizens Bank in Colbert Aug. 27, the second bank robbery at this location this summer.
“There are a lot of similarities between the two robberies,” Chief Deputy Shawn Burns said. “We’re not ready to say it’s the same guy, but we believe that it is.”
Madison County Sheriff Kip Thomas described the robber as a white male, about 6-feet tall, 180 lbs., wearing a black, zipped up sweatshirt, blue jeans and a skull mask.
“It was like a stocking cap with a skull on it pulled down,” said Thomas.
The robber carried a small silver automatic. He pointed it at the teller, received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled south on foot. One customer was in the bank, along with five to six employees, Thomas said.
The Aug. 27 robbery marked the third bank robbery in Madison County this year. There were two in 2009.
