Dear Editor:
I continue to urge the Madison County Board of Education members to question educational leaders about why, how, and where our tax dollars are being used. Many faculty and staff members have asked me to bring a few questions to your attention.
LETTER: School board must pay more attention to details

I am so glad that Elaine took the time to research the above items. We need more people like her who are not afraid to speak up and question things that concern the teachers, parents, and students of Madison Co. school system. The elementary school where my children attend constantly leaks and there are trash cans used to catch the water. I am certain there has to be mold growing in the school. My child's allergies always seem worse when she is in school. I wonder if that is due to mold. The leaks are never fixed, they just replace the ceiling tiles each time. I also do not understand why the teacher's kids at some schools are not allowed to go to their parent's classroom while some at other schools are. What is good for one should be good for ALL. Sometimes we make big deals out of the small things and not a big enough deal about the important things. Elaine has decided to speak out and I wish we had more people in Madison Co. that cared enough to write a letter about how they felt about things happening in education.

Absolutely! Also, why did the county pay for our board chairman, Mr. Patton's health insurance for so long? Seems like we need to take serious thought to who we elect. Education, even among board members, matters!
