A Colbert man was sentenced recently in Madison County Superior Court to three years of confinement for statutory rape.
Cory Welch, 21, 945 Strickland Circle, Colbert, was also sentenced to seven years probation and fined $850. A charge of failure to appear was dismissed.
Other actions filed recently in the office of the clerk of Superior Court of Madison County include:
•Danny Ray Higgens, 47, 2503 Dempsey Brown Road, Dewy Rose, was sentenced to six months probation and fined $337 for failure to record a deer harvest.
•Johnna Celeste Crumley, 35, 694 Blacks Creek Church Road, Danielsville, was sentenced to one year probation, 80 hours of community service and fined $1,081 for DUI drugs.
•Patricia Ann Bates, 46, 1337 Brown Brothers Road, Elberton, was sentenced to one year probation, 40 hours of community service and fined $676 for DUI drugs. She was also sentenced to one year probation and fined $140 for weaving over the roadway. Charges of possession of a schedule II controlled substance and drugs not in original container were dismissed.
•Byron Duvall Rucker, 43, 647 McLendon Street, Elberton, was sentenced to six months probation and fined $280 for tag light required. A charge of driving while license suspended or revoked was dismissed.
•Mark Stewart Wood, 56, 1721 Roy Woods Road, Comer, was sentenced to one year probation and fined $337 for obstruction of officers. A charge of open container violation was dismissed.
•Leroy Allen, 60, 1887 Spring Circle, Comer, was sentenced to one year probation and fined $270 for obstruction of officers.
•Thomas Lance Segars, 27, 164 Mitchell Farm Road, Colbert, was sentenced to one year probation and fined $911 for DUI drugs. A charge of license to be carried and exhibited on demand was dismissed.
•Nicholas Andrew Tarver, 22, 90 North Wood Circle, Colbert, was sentenced to one year probation and was fined $522 for harassing phone calls. Two counts of terroristic threats and acts were dismissed.
•Lea Pauline Briggs, 45, 298 W. Briarwood Drive, Nicholson, was sentenced to one year probation and fined $941 for DUI. She was also sentenced to one year probation and fined $130 for failure to maintain a lane. Three counts of endangering a child by driving under the influence were dismissed.
•Andrew Yates Cole, 29, 365 Washington Drive, Athens, was sentenced to one year probation and fined $337 for giving false information to law officers.
•Brian Stone, 19, 837 Hwy. 72, Comer, was sentenced to one year confinement for theft by taking and battery.
•James Edward Brock Jr., 42, 484 Hawthorne Ave., Athens, was sentenced to six months probation for battery — family violence.
