Couple arrested after fight on Paoli Road
A couple was arrested recently after officers were summoned for a welfare check at the woman’s home on Paoli Road.
Randall Scott Carroll, 42, 445 Lakeview Circle, Danielsville, and Tammy Wynette Benton, 43, 606 Paoli Road, Carlton, were each charged with simple battery FVA.
According to the incident report, officers were dispatched to Paoli Road after the woman’s son became concerned about her when he called her cell phone and Carroll answered, refusing to let him talk to Benton.
Officers went to the home and knocked on the front door identifying themselves as law enforcement. When no one came to the door, a siren was sounded and an officer spoke over a loudspeaker advising that the sheriff’s office was there. A short time later, Benton opened the door saying she had been asleep and did not hear them. Contact was made with Carroll, who was in the bed underneath the covers. Blood was found on his pillow and bloody scratches on his neck and arms. Benton’s left eye was swollen and she also had bloody scratches on her arm.
A chunk of her hair was found on the gameroom floor. The light above the billiard table was broken and there was glass on the floor. Fresh blood was also noticed on the porch rail. She admitted to striking Carroll but denied that he had touched her. Both had been drinking and both were placed under arrest. The scene was photographed for documentation.
In another arrest, a Dacula man was arrested after trying to run from an officer in a mobile home park on Old Elberton Road.
Omar Martinez, 30, 2247 Alton Frank Way, was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, obstruction and DUI.
According to the incident report, an officer was summoned to the area in reference to a noise complaint from a vehicle. The officer spotted a car spinning tires around in circles in the middle of the park. After the officer activated his emergency lights, the man (Martinez) accelerated and pulled up beside a trailer and attempted to run into the woods. After refusing to stop, Martinez was tasered twice and apprehended.
