Mother, daughter fight over cell phone
Battery was reported on Nowhere Road recentlywhen someone called 911 after two juvenile females reported that the mother of one of them had hit them and pulled their hair because the daughter would not give the mother her cell phone.
When they retreated to the bedroom, the woman reportedly busted open the door. One of the girls did have scratches on her arm and leg. The mother had left the scene and officers went to meet with her. They noticed that the woman was bleeding from the side of her head. She said the injury was due to the girls throwing toys at her. She said the altercation began when she asked her daughter for her phone because she was talking with older boys at all hours of the night. She did admit to kicking the bedroom door open and said her daughter was out of control and she couldn’t handle her. DFCS was notified of the situation.
In a similar incident, family violence was reported on Woodale Street when a man reported that his teenage son had threatened him with a knife. The man said the incident began while he was attempting to take the teen’s cell phone from him. He said his son has anger management issues and that he had taken the knife out and said he would throw it at him if he had to.
The son apologized to his father and admitted he had anger problems.
Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office recently included:
•Battery was reported on when an officer met with a man at Ingles who wanted to report a fight he got into at a residence on Sanford Road. The man said as he was leaving the residence a woman closed the door on his foot. The officer contacted the woman by phone, who said that the two were arguing when she asked him to leave and he refused. She said her boyfriend then came in and asked him to leave and that he fell as he was backing out the door. The two were advised of the warrant process.
•School resource officer Mark Jerome transported a student from the alternative school to jail after he reportedly repeatedly disobeyed a teacher, saying things like “shut up muscle head,” and using profanity. He was later transferred to a detention center.
•An employee of the Dollar General on Glenn Carrie Road reported that someone tried to pass a counterfeit $5 bill.
•A small window a/c unit was reportedly stolen from a home on Tommy James Road.
•Burglary was reported on Oak View Drive after an alarm went off and an officer went to the home. Looking through the front window he saw the base plate for a flat screen TV lying in the front room next to a TV stand. He also found a broken window in the kitchen. Footprints were discovered going to the wood line and the department’s tracking dog “Ace” was called to the scene, where he tracked the scent for 300 to 400 yards before losing the scent. When the homeowner arrived, she reported that she did not find anything missing except the TV.
•A couple reported that their juvenile daughter had run away from the high school. An officer located the daughter at a friend’s house and transported her to the sheriff’s office where she was turned over to her parents.
•Forgery in the first degree was reported when sisters who own a cleaning business on Neese Commerce Road told an officer that one of them had made contact with a man on Craig’s List and had received a check from him in the mail in the amount of $1,640.50, instructing her to cash the check, taking $200 out for herself and to send the rest back to him. The check was listed to a dentist’s office with a Charlotte State Bank account number.
•A male high school student was charged with criminal interference with government property and disruption of public school at the sheriff’s office after he reportedly threw a hand truck at a computer server causing damage and punched another computer server, after someone allegedly threw something at him. The student was separated from his class by the school resource officer and taken to the assistant principal’s office and from there to jail. He was released to his mother.
•A woman on Christmas Circle reported that she found two Ralph Lauren shirts, a pair of Nike Shock tennis shoes and a gold necklace with a heart pendent, valued at $250 total, missing from the residence when she came back after being gone for a few weeks. She suspects three individuals who were staying at her home at the time. The officer was unable to contact any of the subjects at the time of the report.
•A woman on Roy Smith Road reported that her neighbor verbally threatened her after she filed a report about a computer charger theft. When she called to ask if the charger had been left over there by her son, the neighbor reportedly became very defensive and began cursing her and threatened to send her granddaughter over to “kick her @#$.” The neighbor also allegedly said she would “take a knife and cut her.” The neighbor denied making the threats. Both were advised to keep to themselves.
•A man on Brownwood Drive reported his dog missing and a window open at his home. He told the officer that he had been home at 1 p.m. to feed his dog, but that his grandmother came by about 5 p.m. to show family from out of town where he lived and found the dog missing and his window open.
•Cruelty to animals was reported on Pine Valley Farm Road after a man said his dog had been wounded. According to the report, the man said he let his dog out a couple of days earlier to go to the bathroom and the dog never returned, though he called for it to come back. When the dog finally returned, it had several stab wounds, bite marks and scratches all over its body. There was also reportedly a rope burn around the neck. The victim said that a while back he had received a letter from a man who said the dog tried to attack him as he walked down the road, but he was unsure if this had any connection to his dog’s injuries. Epps was advised to have the dog treated by a vet and the wounds documented.
•Two people told an officer that they had seen a woman at Ingles who said she was going to “kick both of their $#@%^.” A caseworker at DFCS told them they needed to file a police report of the threats.

She said they had gone out to eat and he started drinking and causing problems at the restaurant so she brought him home, where he got sick as they pulled in the driveway. She said as she was trying to help inside, he became irate so she got in her vehicle and left. When she returned, she found that he had turned the TV over and thrown items throughout the residence. He reportedly told her she needed to clean the place up and she told him “no” she was calling 911. The offender had left the residence walking. The victim was advised of the TPO process.
•A woman in Tranquility Mobile Home Park on Hwy. 72 West reported that a man held her down on the floor and choked her while demanding that she give him her cell phone. The offender had already left the area when the officer arrived. The officer noted that there were not visible injuries to the woman. She was advised of the warrant process and the woman said she would obtain a TPO on the offender.
•Harassing phone calls were reported by a woman at Food Mart on Hwy. 98 West who said that her live-in boyfriend had been calling her approximately 30 times at her place of work. While the officer was there, the man called the woman. He told the officer that he was not harassing her, that their children were wanting to speak with her. After she spoke with the children, the offender reportedly told the woman to tell the children “bye” because they were leaving.
•A woman on Sherwood Circle said a man she knew ran over her dog in her yard. She did not see the incident, but neighbors told her that the man backed out of his mother’s driveway and then sped away, spinning tires. She said that he traveled approximately six feet into her yard in order to hit the dog. She found the dog, injured, in her front yard. Code enforcement went to the vet’s office to get photos of the dog. She was advised to go to the magistrate’s office and obtain an application for a pre-warrant hearing.

When Jerome arrived, he found the step-dad sitting on his son in the front office to restrain him. When Jerome tried to talk to him he became violent and cursed, trying to fight off his step dad. He and another officer finally got him to calm down enough to handcuff him for safety reasons. The boy was taken to Athens Regional for a medical evaluation per the parents’ request.
•A woman on Macedonia Church Road reported that someone had taken her debit card and made several fraudulent transactions on it. The woman thinks that someone she got a ride with stole the card. She told the officer that she had canceled the card through the bank.

She said someone had rummaged through the bathroom and moved things around in the living room. A Marlboro cigarette butt was also found in the living room and a cigarette pack in the yard. Neither reportedly belonged to the victim.
•A woman on Jot-Em-Down Road asked for a welfare check on her neighbor. He was not found during a search of his residence. She said he had asked her to watch his residence about a month ago and that she has not heard from him since. She did not know if he had any family in the area.
•A man on Fox Trail reported that he thinks that his step-daughter and her boyfriend stole a lawn mower from his yard. He also reported that while he was recovering from open heart surgery he believes a woman who he gave his debit card to to purchase his groceries made unauthorized charges in the amount of $400 on it.
•A man on Hill Lake Road reported that someone had stolen the wiring from underneath a burnt house in the yard of his residence. They also took the aluminum from the old a/c unit at the house and the copper tubing from the doublewide that he lives in.
•A woman on Maplewood Lane reported that someone stole the doorknob from the front door of her house while she was gone to McDonald’s. Nothing else was reported missing.
•Battery was reported on Northwood Circle when a woman said her son hit her wrist with an ashtray during an argument. The offender admitted to the incident and said he was sorry and that he had anger problems. The offender was released to a family member.
•A stereo was reportedly stolen from a vehicle on Wrigley Court.
•A man on Hwy. 29 North reported that his home had been burglarized. He said he lives in Pennsylvania part of the year and part of the year at this residence. When he came home to check on things and cut the grass he found that his home had been entered and that numerous items were taken, including the microwave, refrigerator, washer, dryer and computer. Copper wiring had been taken from the a/c unit and the power supply. It also appeared the perpetrators had gone under the house. All storage buildings, which had been padlocked, were broken into and a riding lawn mower, push mower and a two-drawer tool chest had been taken. It was believed that the crime was recently committed since the contents of the refrigerator/freezer were left on the floor of the kitchen and a bag of ice was still mostly frozen.

See cellphones will cause problems every time. I wouldn't have took the phone away I would have had it cut off?
