It’s that time of year again — time for those fall colors and the first hint of a cool nip in the air. Time for the fair!
The annual Madison County Agricultural Fair opens Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the Comer Fairgrounds off Hwy. 22.
In addition to cotton candy, midway rides and nightly musical entertainment, the fair provides a look at the county’s agricultural community, with a cattle, pig, or goat show featured every day.
Entertainment will begin each night at 7 p.m.
There will also be nightly drawings for prizes (you must be present to win), with a grand prize 46-inch flat screen TV to be awarded Saturday night. All gate tickets for the week, in addition, to Saturday’s tickets, will be eligible for the grand prize, but you still must be present to win, organizers said.
Gates open nightly at 6 p.m., with a Saturday matinee from noon to 4 p.m.
Gate prices are $4 per person, ages five under, free nightly, and the matinee is free for ages 15 and under, adult tickets are $1 each. Comer Lions Club members say bring a pair of eyeglasses, cell phone or hearing aid to receive 50 cents off the gate price.
Unlimited rides on the midway are $15 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and the Saturday matinee, and $18 on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
