Inmate faces charges after escape attempt
A Danielsville man incarcerated at the Madison County Jail was given additional charges last week after he reportedly tried to escape from a holding area Sept. 24.
Eddie Adam Hicks, 28, 3346 Rogers Mill Road, was arrested Thursday, Sept. 23, on numerous charges and was being kept in a holding cell.
According to chief deputy Shawn Burns, Hicks apparently stuffed toilet paper in to the door lock of the cell, and escaped into the Sally port area, where an officer pulled his taser and ordered him to stop. He complied. He was placed in a restraint chair, where he became unruly. Officers then placed him in a wrap restraint and he was taken back to the holding cell where he was monitored by jail staff.
Hicks charges are: receipt, possession or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon, receipt, possession, or transfer of firearm by convicted felon, improper signal, violation of instruction permit, too fast for conditions, weaving over roadway, speeding, fleeing or attempting to elude, failure to obey a stop sign, prescription drugs must be in their original container, possession of a Schedule III, IV or V controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession and use of drug-related objects, two counts of forgery in the second degree, probation violation, obstruction, criminal attempt to commit a felony and three counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.

•Danny Evans, 49, 1116 Stone Stewart Road, Hull, was charged with one count of simple battery after he reportedly shoved his mother to the ground and threatened to kill her. When the officers approached Evans, he allegedly walked toward them carrying a long-handled ax and yelling “kill me.” The woman said her son is mentally unstable but that he had never acted in that manner before.

•Kerri Lea Leslie, 47, 72 Willow Oak Circle, Comer, was charged with one count of reckless driving after several officers pursued along Hwy. 98 East. Leslie tested negative for any signs of intoxication, but told the deputies that she had not slept for several nights and that she had sleepwalked the previous night. She said she was unaware that she had been weaving.
•Todd Kristofer Lewis, 32, 2114 Dove Town Road, Royston, was arrested for pedestrian under the influence after an officer found him walking in the roadway on Hwy. 174 at Collins Dudley Road.
•Yvonne Alayne Massey, 29, 139 Clubhouse Drive, Jefferson, two counts of financial identity fraud, two counts of financial transaction card fraud and three counts of party to a crime.
