A man on Fowler Freeman Road reported recently that his 9-year-old pet goose “Gus” was attacked in his fenced-in yard by his neighbor’s four chihuahuas who dug under the fence.
The goose, though still alive, was severely wounded and in pain with his beak ripped off and his skull and other insides exposed. The case was forwarded to animal control for possible prosecution. He was also advised that he could protect his animals by any means necessary.
Other incidents investigated by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office this past week included:
•A man on James Spring Road reported that someone had used his Pinnacle Bank debit card without his knowledge for a $237 transaction to AT&T.
•Burglary was reported at a shop and apartment on Homestead Road.
•A woman eating in the deli area of Ingles in Hull reported that a man had cussed at her and got the store manager because he said her shopping cart was blocking the condiments.
•Financial transaction card fraud was reported on Chandler Road.
•A man went to the sheriff’s office to report that his vehicle had been stolen from a repair shop in Ila. He had been unable to speak with the owner of the shop.
•A woman on Piedmont Road reported that her former boyfriend has been stalking her since their breakup last May, showing up at her home, driving by her office and calling or texting her as many as a dozen times a day. She said she is afraid of him because he has a criminal history and was violent with her during their relationship.
•A woman on Macedonia Church Road reported that someone had entered an abandoned chicken house and stolen some electrical wire by cutting it away from receptacles and pulling it away from the ceiling.
•A couple in Piedmont Park reported that the woman’s parents have been calling and harassing them for several days. They have also sent text messages and typically called at 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. The warrant and TPO process was explained to them.
•A middle school student was removed from a school bus on Colbert Danielsville Road last week for fighting. The other student was turned over to his mother after he received a head injury when his head was pushed into the bus window.
•A mailbox and post were destroyed on Jot-Em-Down Road.
•A man went to the sheriff’s office to report that four fraudulent transactions had been made on his Oconee State Bank debit/credit card.
•A woman on Roy Smith Road reported that her juvenile son had become very unruly and rebellious after she got onto him about ordering movies on TV. She said he has also been getting into trouble at school and she feels he may hurt someone.
•A man on Colchester Circle reported that someone stole his 2001 Toro 60” zero turn lawnmower from a shed next to his shop last week.
•A flute was reportedly stolen from its case in the locker room at Madison County Middle School.
•Copper gas piping was reported missing from two residences on Macedonia Church Road.
•A woman on Fowler Freeman Road reported that a neighbor had yelled through the woods that he was going to kill her and her companion. The offender said he had threatened to “whoop his #$%” but did not threaten to kill them. He said he was angry because the couple had put the car in reverse when his family was behind them and acted as if they were going to back over them. The offender stated there would be no more problems.
•A man on Sorrow Patterson Road reported that his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend has sent him about 90 text messages in one day, trying to provoke him into a fight.
•A man on Evangelical Church Road reported that someone had entered his residence and taken a box of pennies from a spare bedroom. A tiller was also taken for outside of a carport.
•A stolen truck out of Elbert County was found on fire on Roy Woods Road. Firefighters told the officer that the fire appeared to be intentionally set.
•A disc player and two knifes were stolen from an SUV on Briarwood Lane.
•Four low-profile tires and chrome wheels were stolen from a shed on Farm Road.
•A purse was stolen after a vehicle was broken into on Briarwood Lane.
•A volleyball coach from Clarke Central told the high school resource officer that someone stole items out of several book bags her players had left on the bleachers during the game.
•A transmission sitting on the ground next to a vehicle was reportedly stolen from Bob White Used Cars on Hwy. 29 South.
•A man on Chambers Road reported that several articles were taken from his yard, including a riding lawn mower, push mower, wood chipper, pressure washer, two Coleman lanterns and 21 Zebco spinner fishing reels.
•A couple in the process of moving from a home on Wildcat Bridge Road reported that Pampers and two push mowers were stolen while they were gone.
•A boyfriend and girlfriend who live together on East Jones Chapel Road reported that the man’s ex-wife has been threatening them since the woman got temporary custody of her boyfriend’s 11-month-old child. The ex-wife has reportedly threatened to kill them all, drives by the house, follows the woman and throws things at their mailbox. The woman said the ex-wife has a history of violence and that she is living with a sex offender.
•Scrap metal was reportedly stolen from a residence on Blacks Creek Church Road.
•A man reported that his cell phone was stolen from his vehicle while he was attending Macedonia Church.
•The manager of Camp Maranatha reported that a trailer had been broken into. An antique stand up mirror was reportedly taken.
•Driver checkpoints were set up last week on Holly Creek Church Road at Paoli Road; on Hardman Morris Road at Covey Landing and on Old Elberton Road at Davis Street.
•A woman on Macedonia Church Road reported that two people had dropped off a refrigerator in her yard and said that they would be back to get it “in 30 minutes.” The refrigerator did not appear to be stolen.
•An abandoned Toyota Tacoma was found on Water Oak Road and Hwy. 174. An owner could not be located and it was towed.
