Madison County’s residential water customers in the Hull area will see their water rates raised to the level of other county water customers in 2011.
Right now, Hull customers pay a minimum of $17.50 for up to 3,000 gallons of water. Effective Jan. 1, that will rise to $20.
“The new water rates will equalize everything,” said IDA utility director Steve Shaw at a brief industrial authority meeting Oct. 18.
Hull customers are now charged $4.50 per thousand for 3,001 to 12,000 gallons. That will increase to $6 per thousand. They pay $5.50 per thousand for 12,001 to 18,000 gallons, which will increase to $6.50 per thousand.
And they now pay $7.50 per thousand for 18,001 gallons or more, which will rise to $8.50 per thousand.
In other matters Oct. 18, Shaw reported that there were 729 county water customers in September, who used 5.1 million gallons of water, up a half a million gallons from the previous month. The county added nine customers in September.
