All Madison County school open houses are ahead Wednesday, Aug. 6, with three of the system’s seven campuses unveiling significant alterations.
Elementary schools (Colbert, Comer, Danielsville, Ila and Hull-Sanford) will hold their open houses from 3-5 p.m. The middle school open house is set for 5:30-7 p.m. and the Madison County Freshmen Academy’s is from 2-4 p.m.
New this year to students will be Madison County Middle School moving into a spacious 161,162 square foot building in the southeastern portion of the county, Danielsville Elementary School locating its Colt Academy in a wing of the renovated old MCMS building and Madison County High School shifting its Freshman Academy to the old MCMS building as well.
The Madison County Board of Education office is also slated to relocate from its headquarters on Hwy. 29 to the old MCMS building to serve as a buffer between the Colt and Freshmen academies.
The new middle school is located at 3215 Hwy. 172.
School officials say students will be able to meet the teachers, pick up schedules and see their new building during open house.
Madison County High School is billing its freshmen open house as a “Freshmen Day Back,” which gives ninth graders the chance to become acquainted with new MCHS principal Dr. Tommy Craft.
Students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend the program, which will begin at 2 p.m. in the Madison County High School Freshmen Academy gym (old middle school gym). Craft and other school personnel will offer information for the upcoming school year and students will obtain a copy of their schedule. Freshmen and parents/guardians are encouraged to attend this information meeting, school officials said.
There is no open house for the Madison County High Schools 10-12 grade building. Students were scheduled to pick up their class schedules yesterday (Wednesday) and again today (Thursday).
