Woman arrested after allegedly faking overdose
A Danielsville woman was taken to jail recently after officers and EMS were summoned to an Audie Porterfield residence in reference to a possible overdose.
Jennifer Elaine Sparks, 37, of 275 Audi Porterfield Road, was charged with obstructing or hindering EMTs, request for ambulance service when not reasonably needed and obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers.
According to the incident report, Sparks’ boyfriend told officers that she had taken a half-bottle of Tylenol. Sparks was lying on a bed, acting as if she was unresponsive. The officer could get her to move, but not to speak with him. Her boyfriend showed the officer a text message from Sparks in which she wrote that she had taken the pills to kill herself.
The officer called in EMS, and she continued to be unresponsive with them. However, after she was told that she was to be taken to the ER, she got up and told them she did not take the pills — pulling them out of a box by the bed. She said she sent the text message to her boyfriend because she was angry with him and wanted him to come home.
After that statement she got back in the bed and covered up as if to go to sleep. She was asked to sit up and talk with them, but she refused. The officer then uncovered her and asked her to stand up. She was handcuffed, advised of her charges and taken to jail.
