Hull man charged with public indecency
A Hull man was taken into custody recently after two of his neighbors reported that he had exposed himself to them.
Russell Edward Flanagan, 32, 157 Ed Coile Road, was charged with public indecency and terroristic threats and acts.
According to the incident report, the witnesses stated that they were on a front porch directly across from the man’s residence when he reportedly opened the curtains and pulled down his pants and underpants, exposing his genitals. They told the responding officer that he did this twice and that he was laughing while he did it.
Flanagan denied the allegations and said that the witnesses “had it in for him” and were trying to get him in trouble. The officer noted that he already had an active warrant for terroristic threats.
In another set of incidents, a Crawford man was charged with sexually assaulting his wife. The wife was later arrested for DUI/drugs and she and two companions were also charged with several burglaries.
Brian Craig Ross, 34, 114 Coiles Drive, was charged with one count of sexual battery after his wife, Desiree Ross, 26, was taken to the hospital for her injuries. According to the report, D. Ross said she and her husband have been having marital problem and that he had become jealous of two friends of hers, Matthew Thomas Means and Dustin Lewis Casper, both 18. She said her husband had come home and found Casper at their residence and became angry. He reportedly kicked a toy, almost striking their 10-month old child and then grabbed his wife, pushed her against a wall, assaulting her sexually and speaking obscenities to her. While at the hospital, the officer noted that she was given a Lortab (narcotic). The officer then spoke with Casper, who corroborated her story. The officer left the hospital and found B. Ross near the residence on Doris Lane and informed him he was under arrest for sexual battery. As he was speaking with Mr. Ross, the officer noticed Mrs. Ross go by driving a van. He then went to the residence and informed her she was under arrest for DUI/drugs because he had witnessed her taking the narcotic. The next day Desiree Ross, 133 Doris Lane, Hull, was also charged with theft by taking and three counts of burglary; Means, 150 Three Rivers Court, Hull, and Casper, 153 Three Rivers Court, Hull, were both charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of theft by taking. One burglary was reported at a storage facility on Bridlewood Trail and another was reported at a residence in East Piedmont Park.

•A man on Wolf Creek Trail reported that someone had broken into his home while he was out of town and stolen a gun in a carrying case beside his bed.
•Criminal trespass was reported on Pebblebrook Lane after a man said he heard someone hitting the basement windows of his residence. He said that he went down to investigate and saw a doorknob turning. He and a witness then ran back upstairs and out the front door in time to see several unknown person running into the woods. The victim stated that this is an ongoing problem at his home. Several deputies searched the area but were unable to find the offenders.
•A woman on Virginia Lane reported that she has been receiving phone calls for some time on her cell phone from someone with a blocked number and that they don’t say anything.
•A man on Paoli Road reported that his daughter and a friend had stolen his car battery. He said they had been staying with him for a while, but had been stealing from him, so he told them to leave. That’s when they took the car battery. He said he knew it was them because they have to jump their vehicle off each time in order to crank it.
•A woman in Country Living MHP reported that a man had broken her glass coffee table when he got up off the sofa during an argument. The woman said she wanted the man to pay for the table.
•A man reported that a refrigerator he had bought for a rental home had been taken when the family moved. The refrigerator was found after the officer went to the man’s grandparents and found out that the couple had sold it to them for $200. Their grandson reportedly told them he needed $200 to pay a fine to keep his wife out of jail. The grandmother said she had pawned some jewelry to help come up with money for the refrigerator. The unit was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
•A woman on Timber Ridge Lane reported that her ex-husband has been calling and harassing her and using obscene language on her voicemail. The complainant said they have been divorced three years and that he is trying to take her back to get his child support lowered. The woman was advised of the TPO process.
•A woman on Garnett Ward Road reported that someone had damaged her mobile home by punching a hole in it near the door and by pulling off some of the tin. A witness told the responding officer that a white male drove up in a green minivan and went to the front of the residence with some type of tool like a pry bar and began banging and prying on the home. He was also reportedly yelling and screaming, but the witness could not hear what he said. A white female in the vehicle yelled at him to stop and think of the kids. There were also small children in the van, according to the report. The victim said she has ongoing problems with her son, apparently feuding with him over a woman. The victim was advised of the TPO process.
•A man on Waggoner’s Grove Church Road reported that his nephew had taken a shotgun that belonged to him. He said the nephew admitted to having it, but would not return it because his now-deceased grandmother had given it to him.
•A man disposing of a deer carcass in a field he owns on Shoal Creek Road reported that he found a utility trailer and he didn’t know to whom it belonged. Officers checked the VIN number and found that it was stolen out of Clarke County.
•A woman on Sweetgum Trail reported that her estranged husband had forged her name on a check made out to her.
•A man on Sherwood Circle reported that his homemade trailer had been stolen, taken to Alewine’s Auto Salvage and scrapped.
•A woman reported that someone had entered her vehicle in Clarke County earlier in the day and stolen several items, including her Chase Sapphire credit card. The offender had then reportedly used the card at Ingles in Hull to make a purchase of $70.92. Surveillance cameras from Ingles showed a white female using the card. An Ingles employee also said that the victim’s Ingles Advantage card had been used during the purchase, but the woman said she did not have an Ingles card. The victim stated that the card has been canceled and a hold has been placed on the account. She was referred to Clarke County to report the break in and several other fraudulent charges committed in that county.
•A woman on Pine Valley Road reported that she found a pistol in her husband’s dresser drawer while she was doing laundry. She said that her husband, who is currently incarcerated, is a convicted felon and as such is not allowed to have firearms. She suspected that the firearm belonged to the father of her husband’s mistress, but she was not sure, she said. She also asked that the bedroom be searched for any other firearms. The officer located a magazine for a 45-caliber handgun. Both were removed for the purpose of identifying the owner.
•A woman on East Jones Chapel Road reported that a woman she has a TPO against had been riding by her house on the dirt road yelling and throwing up her hands at her. She was advised of the warrant process.
•A woman on Christmas Circle reported that several items were taken from her residence and that the door was kicked in. She listed two people she thinks might be responsible. She later reported a dump truck missing from her front yard.
•An abandoned 1995 Mercury Cougar was towed from Fortson Store Road at Hull-Sanford Elementary School after it was found to be blocking the driveway.
•The school resource officer reported that two male juveniles got into a fight on a school bus. Both were transported to the sheriff’s office and released to their parents.
•A woman on Garnett Ward Road reported that someone took her granddaughter’s white older model bike from in front of her home. She did not notice the bike missing until her granddaughter came home from school to ride the bike.
•A man on Gosnell Hutto Road reported that all his stereo equipment had been taken from his truck. He had two suspects in mind.
•Aggravated assault and robbery were reported in the Golden Pantry parking lot on Hwy. 72 last week after a man said he had been in a fight with two other men. According to the report, the victim said he and some friends had been in downtown Athens where they met a man named “Shane.” He, his friends and Shane then went to the Golden Pantry where Shane reportedly tried to sell him some drugs. When he refused, a black male reportedly pulled a silver pistol from a truck. The victim then pulled out a tire iron from this vehicle and a fight ensued. The black male reportedly grabbed him and took his wallet, cell phone and other items from his pocket. The officer noted that the victim had a large knot on his left eye and his left ear was black and swollen. A witness said there was a fight between two white males, but that no guns were involved. He said that the victim had also struck the other man repeatedly with the tire iron and that the man had a large gash on his head. Local hospitals were called but the other man was not found.
•A woman on West Kellogg Drive reported that a white male in a dirty white T-shirt tried to open the gate to her fence at the back of her property. She said the man told her he was looking for someone and then took off down the driveway. The woman called 911 and took off after the man down the driveway with her shotgun. She spotted him at the end of the driveway, at which point he took off into the woods. The victim seemed extremely stressed and nervous, according to the officer. She said she had not gotten over an incident that happened four years ago.
•A home was burglarized on Cleghorne Road last week. A man reported that he noticed the screen had been removed from a window and that items were missing from his bedroom.
•A jon boat was reportedly stolen from where it was tied to a root on the Broad River.
•Two middle schoolers reportedly got into a fight on a school bus and were taken to the sheriff’s office, where they were released to relatives.
•A man on Hwy. 72 said his sister and her boyfriend have been calling and threatening him about a court case.
•A woman on Briarwood Lane reported that someone had taken stereo equipment out of the vehicle her son drives. Just prior to this call, officers had received another call to Briarwood Lane where the caller said a black male wearing a hoodie was walking and thought to be carrying a flat screen TV. The man was located, but released after questioning.
•A woman on Hickory Hills Road reported that a woman she works with has been calling and threatening her after she allegedly told the woman’s boyfriend that she was cheating on him. She said she also works with the boyfriend and when he asked her, she told him the truth. About 11:30 p.m. she received a call from the woman calling her bad names, cussing at her and threatening to kill her by cutting her throat. A witness heard the conversation on a speaker phone. The victim also showed the officer threatening text messages from the offender. The victim was advised of the warrant and TPO process.
•A lawnmower was reportedly stolen from a barn on Sanford Road. The deputy noted where a single vehicle had pulled in and out of the barn.
•A man on Scogin Road reported that a man had hit him on the arm with a stick. He said they had been arguing over money and that the offender was angry because the victim owes him $20 and had not paid him. The man said he thinks the man lives in Diamond Hill MHP.
•Forty dollars in cash and a number of china items were taken from a flea market on Hwy. 29 South.
•A man on Alberta Drive reportedly accidentally shot himself last week. He was transported to Athens Regional for treatment.
•A woman on Garnett Ward Road reported that her mother had burned her and her children’s clothing. She said that her mother had kicked her out of the residence on Oct. 10 and that when she came back to get her belongings on Oct. 24, her mother had thrown them outside and burned them. She was advised of the civil process.
•A woman on Buddy Moore Road reported that someone had stolen a bicycle in front of her home, which the officer noted is close to the road.
•A domestic dispute between a brother and sister was reported on Grady Lane last week. According to the report, the brother had been “showing out” and had left his sister’s residence spinning his tires and throwing dirt and rocks all over her. When he returned, a man at the sister’s house stepped in front of his truck and he struck the man with the truck, but the man was not seriously hurt. The officer went next door where the brother lives and the brother told him that his sister’s son-in-law had beaten him up last week and that he had taken a TPO out against him. Since then, he said, he has been arguing with his sister about several things. The officer noted they have several civil issues to work out through the courts. All parties were advised to stay as far away from each other as possible.
•A car tire reportedly broke out a window on a house on Hwy. 72 West last week. According to the report, a woman said she suspected something was wrong with her right front tire, but kept driving and then the tire just came off. A man in the home said he and his wife were watching TV when they heard a loud noise like an explosion that shook their house hard enough to force the back door open The man then got up and noticed the shatter glass and the tire laying in the front yard.
