A Comer man claiming to be a “Secret Service agent and troll” was arrested while walking along Colbert-Danielsville Road recently.
Jerry William Hall, 39, 1715 Lystra Church Road was charged with battery against a police officer, deposit account fraud and two counts of obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers.
According to the incident report, employees of the First Citizen Bank in Colbert called 911 to report that a man (Hall) was walking around their parking lot dressed in camouflage clothing and carrying a back pack. They reported that he then left the parking lot walking toward Danielsville on Colbert-Danielsville Road. Deputy Wesley Bryant and GBI special agent Trent Hillsman, who was also in the area. Both responded to the call.
Hall told Bryant that his car had broken down on Hwy. 72 ant that he was headed to Athens to his sister’s home. Deputy Bryant informed him that he was going the wrong way. Dispatch then advised Bryant that Hall had a bad check warrant in Madison County. When Bryant attempted to handcuff Hall, Hall reportedly struck the officer in the cheek with his closed fist. Bryant and Hillsman then struggled with Hall to get him into handcuffs. While they were working with him, he reportedly kept stating that he was a “Secret Service Agent and a Secret Service Troll.” He was taken to jail.
In another arrest, a Hull man was taken into custody after an officer was called to a suspicious vehicle on Helican Springs Road.
Stephen Marcous Muniz, 23, 1066 Martin Griffeth Road, was charged with DUI/alcohol and weaving over roadway after the responding officer found his vehicle stuck in a ditch, spinning its rear tires. According to the incident report, the officer observed Muniz attempting to back the vehicle out of the ditch. When he approached, Muniz got out of the vehicle, leaving it in drive. The officer immediately smelled a strong alcohol odor coming from his person. Muniz said he had been drinking but refused a breathalyzer test. When asked where he was, he said he was in Danielsville just below the red light. He said all he wanted to do was to go into his friend “Chris’s” house and pass out, but he could not remember his friend’s last name. He was arrested and taken to jail.
