LETTER: Helping those in need on Thanksgiving Day

Dear Editor:

Comer Baptist Church is pleased to announce that we will be starting a wonderful new tradition of feeding those in need of a warm Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day. Our prayer is for this new endeavor to be the first of many Thanksgiving meals to be served to the Madison County community through our church. As an extension of our current food ministry offered the first Tuesday of every month through the program “There’s Hope for the Hungry,” our hope and prayer is to minister to people of Madison County in need on Thanksgiving Day.

We are already making preparations for our first annual community Thanksgiving dinner, which will be held Thursday, Nov. 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Comer Baptist Church located at 2054 Main Street, in Comer. We are estimating the need to feed 600 people this year both at the church and through delivery to homes for those without transportation.

If you would like to attend, or need a meal delivered on Thanksgiving Day you need to make a reservation before Nov. 19, by contacting our church office at 706-783-5533. Leave your name, address, telephone number and number of plates needed and someone will contact you to confirm your meals. Also, if you are interested in volunteering or making a donation for this ministry, please contact the church as well.
