A Madison County woman has announced her campaign to run for President of the United States.
Kay Pickett, of AC Carey Road, Danielsville, stopped by The Journal office Monday to drop off an announcement of her candidacy.
“I’m serious about this,” said Pickett, who added that she received 13 votes in the 2004 election. “I am more qualified than Hillary.”
Pickett, who plans to run as an independent, said she has 33 years of law enforcement experience, that she can drive most any vehicle and that she can fire any weapon, including grenade launchers. She said she has worked with federal, state and local law enforcement, gone to the University of Georgia, working toward a degree in criminal justice and has over 5,000 hours in specialized training.
“May I offer you my independent voice as your president of the United States of America,” wrote Pickett in her announcement, adding that she stands for “God, USA, all military, all enforcement, all EMS and firefighters and all the people who are legal U.S. citizens.”
Pickett said she will represent all people as president.
“My principles are this, I’m neither Democratic or Republican — I’m under God,” she said. “I don’t care if you’re an Eskimo or an Indian. I may not believe what you believe but I will defend your right to believe it. My life career has been serving the USA.”
